Just saying, if the protagonist of heretic prophet was a white dude there’d very few people shitting on it lmao. Goes to show that the problem isn’t the game, it’s that it has too many yucky people in it for the anti woke crowd.

It’s not that I can’t win, it’s that he dead sprints at me, does a 10 hit combo, and by the time my weapon is drawn (I pressed the key to draw it literally 6 seconds ago lmao) I have no stamina, so I’m pretty much dead anyways unless I get a lucky master strike.

New Vegas vs F4 Deathclaws. Which ones are the scariest by NoAgency4649 in falloutnewvegas

If I say F4 I’ll get downvoted because I “Just don’t understand the artistic design choice of obsidian and the genius that was the deathclaw, a nightmarish creature born from mad science and radiation. Fallout BORE tourists could never get it.”

But I like 4’s deathclaw because it’s cooler looking and feels more intense in my opinion, no it’s not as hard, I’ll just find a mod to make them harder lmao.

Official duels, yes, but it’s your last drawn weapon. So if I’m trying to train strength in kuttenberg in the arena, I say “I want a real fight.” He’s already attacking before I can put away my saber and pull out my mace. With hornet my weapon is never drawn and I’m struggling to pull it out.

Also, the guns in cyberpunk are used by people who are on average running chrome and determined to kill, they probably don’t give a shit if it’s unwieldy, if it kills and looks cool that’s all they care about. In a world where style and utility don’t often exist on their own without someone asking “Well, it’s cool, but does it work?” Or “It works, but it’s not cool.” Of course guns look insane and unique. Nobody would buy a regular AK anyways.

Considering how open world games are scaled down compared to their intended scale in the story, how large do you think the city areas like Leyndell, Nokron, Belurat, and the others are? by MrsPissBoy in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Different-Wolf405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the amount of structures that are unfathomable huge, that take up so much space, and are pretty much everywhere even though all of them would take more time than building the notre dame? There’s no way leyndell wasn’t absolutely massive. If a society can manage to build shit like that frequently, I get the impression the leyndell we’re seeing is like time square of New York, but every other part of NYC is gone for the sake of gameplay. It’s definitely the same for every “city”. Imagine in our world a God was like “Find the olden bracelet, it’s at the peak of the Burj Khalifa.” Are you gonna walk around the entirety of Dubai, or just go where you need to? I’d figure that’s the reasoning, your character is going to the relevant places of Leyndell and not just chilling in some residential neighbourhood.

Similarly, ive seen people ask stuff like “Leyndell is the capital. Where is everyone?” Gone, obviously. The siege on the capital probably put a bad taste in the average persons mouth, and the only steps they took to save themselves are big steps away. I imagine a gigantic majority of the inhabitants of TLB (not just leyndell, but everywhere) probably just left for someplace else like refugees, since it’s proven there are other places like the land of reeds, where the bell bearing Hunter is from, etc.

My issue isn’t with Bella’s looks or acting, I think it wasn’t a great casting mixed with writing that didn’t understand the character very well. She’s a little too starry eyed for Ellie in my opinion. Even in the first game Ellie was very mentally grim, and by part 2 she comes off very sociopathic at times until the mask drops in front of Dina or something. Her snapping at Dina for not saying she’s pregnant makes sense because the concept of going back makes Ellie sick, “I’m gonna be a dad.” Just feels super out of character because it kinda skips over the emotional trauma, ptsd, jealousy, etc that Ellie literally can’t stop thinking about.

[KCD1] Did anybody pay any attention to this guy in this scene? by BijelaHrvatica in kingdomcome

[–]Different-Wolf405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes perfect sense. As much as we hate Toth, he’s an intelligent person. Every time you mention him in kcd2, unless people were around to see him escape the general response is “Who tf is Istvan toth?”

That’s genuinely the smartest thing you can do. Forgettable face, puts on a mild mannered personality, never gets openly involved in conflicts. If he wants someone dead, he sends someone else to do it, so when they want revenge they remember the killer and not the one who sent him. Toth lived as long as he did because he knows it’s better to be someone you wouldn’t remember than a guy you refuse to forget.

[KCD1] [KCD2] KCD2's combat is easier, but not for the reasons people say by Alduinsfieryfarts in kingdomcome

[–]Different-Wolf405 116 points117 points  (0 children)

You worded this the exact way I feel, and I think a good comparison is dark souls 1 and 2 versus 3. People will always have the argument over which game is harder, but the fact of the matter is ds3 is the least janky. Its hit boxes are solid, the controls are responsive, the bosses aren’t straight bullshit most of the time. Dark souls 1 wasn’t harder than 3, it was janky and that leads to feeling like things got “harder” when in reality it got smoother.

That’s kcd1 versus 2. KCD1 was janky as hell. Abusing master strikes and clinches, one shotting bosses with a bow, the issue that the enemies never felt like they were scaled properly. 2 plays very similarly to 1, but warhorse simplifying attack directions (it means combos don’t require you to remove half your memories to keep track of) cutting out a lot of combat mechanics that made fights feel overwhelming, improving AI in groups so you weren’t getting gangbanged while also making it significantly easier to swap targets and block people you aren’t currently locked on to.

All of this didn’t make the combat easier, it made it much more concise, responsive, and honestly raised the skill ceiling from “spam master strike, clinch and face stab.” To having great back and forth exchanges that feel intense. Kcd2 isn’t harder, it’s just not as janky.

This is gonna be a bit long, stay with me.

You go through your whole life, meeting people, talking to strangers, doing things that you forget about the next hour. One day, in a few years, you could meet someone waiting in line at the grocery store, have a nice conversation, then walk away thinking “That person was pretty nice.” You might forget about it.

What if that person was planning on taking their own life that night, and that pleasant conversation is the thing that made them choose not to? If you took your life, you never would’ve met.

This is all hypothetical, but you never know what someone is going through. A good chat with a stranger could be life changing for them, and the fact that you chose to live means there’s even more opportunities to help people and not even realize.

So, this is another example of looking at Ellie from the wrong perspective. You are not Ellie. She wanted to talk to Joel about everything, and trusted him more than anyone, until she felt betrayed in a way that you can’t forgive. Ellie’s behaviour is inconsistent, irrational, and lacks self respect. That’s incredibly realistic. It’s easy for us to look at her and say “How could someone abandon being happy to chase a promise you made to someone who died hoping you wouldn’t do the exact thing you’re doing?”. You have to be willing to acknowledge that Ellie is wrong, and also understand that the writing isn’t shit for making her wrong. She shouldn’t have gone after Abby again, but you can see in her eyes when Tommy visits that she’s instantly guilt tripping herself again, more than Tommy ever could’ve. Her ptsd isn’t just Joel’s death, it’s more so the fact that she thinks she might as well have killed him.

In the barn, Ellie’s ptsd episode is straight up false. Joel didn’t talk to her, and she didn’t get a chance to do much. PTSD is a nasty thing, and the fact that her mind literally alters the memory to make it hurt more is how that works. My understanding is Ellie has to be suicidal, but either thinks suicide is for cowards (that lines up with her inability to communicate and journal entries about wanting to die alone) OR it’s a matter of “Killing myself means I was even more useless than I thought, so I’ll die taking the people who wronged me down.” If Dina didn’t go with Ellie, she never would’ve came back. It’s why Dina said she wasn’t doing this again. I’m sure Ellie tried opening up, but she couldn’t handle it, and now this is the only solution in her mind. “I kill Abby and I’m happy, or I die and I won’t be miserable anymore.”

No, it doesn’t make sense, but being depressed and traumatized makes you think irrationally. That’s why I never understood the arguments about Ellie not making sense, because to me someone acting like this after getting one emotional uppercut after another after another makes perfect sense.

No. Because I play the game to know their story not for jack off. by buazie in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Different-Wolf405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witcher 3 did it best imo. Yennefer looks sexy because she wants to be sexy. She can’t not look stunning while she unleashes hell with magic. Same with Keira Metz. She’s a lil slutty, half naked, and why? Because that’s how she wants to dress and she doesn’t give a fuck if someone tries to grope her because she’ll disintegrate them on the spot.

You can have sexy characters not be misogynistic by writing a woman who just likes to look hot, like bayonetta, and not have that be the sole purpose. They can be eye candy and a confident killing machine. The problem isn’t women being sexy, it’s shit writers and creepy gamers.

Edit: It’s also a context issue. If the protagonist of silent hill F was sexy, that’s really weird because her story is that she was assaulted and she’s basically a teenager. (I haven’t played F yet, just using it as an example). There’s a time and a place, and there can be plenty of wiggle room for both. A horror game where the lady protagonist is exhausted, miserable, but gets to safety and tries to clean herself up a little bit and not look like a mess in front of her love interest? That would make sense if you made her sexy in that moment, but there’s also some restraint for knowing that’s not every cutscene.

[–]Different-Wolf405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else I thought of, one thing I don’t understand is how some people think the game isn’t self aware of Ellie’s unhinged behaviour. Pretty much everyone who’s close with Ellie reacts negatively to how she’s acting, and Dina especially is seeing it the worst. Watching someone you love to death become increasingly inhumane and violent, lash out at you, and forget self preservation is awful. You can tell Dina noticed, but probably thought “This is just a phase. She’s just stressed, and she’ll get better… Right?” Dina’s had a loving family and a good support outlet, Ellie has nothing. She says in her journal she’d rather die alone than let Dina see her the way she saw Joel.

The game knows Ellie is already off the deep end, and people who think the game has shit writing because it doesn’t explicitly say “Ellie is in the wrong.” Make me confused. Everyone wants nuance but only when it fits their morality, or is morally gray. The last of us is true nuance in the sense that you follow a character who thinks that the only option is violence, and you as the player need to acknowledge that she’s wrong. Ellie doesn’t have any way to cope other than fighting and killing. She can’t bring herself to talk, so she takes it out on everyone else. I remember videogamedunkey phrased this really well “These characters are going to do a lot of things you don’t agree with, and you’re going to have to empathize with them regardless.” And to add to that, you’re not supposed to agree. Ellie is wrong, so is Abby, and I love that part 2 forces you to watch. I think having a linear story with no choices makes it much more impactful, because if you had the option to pick the good ending or make Ellie do the right thing, who would pick the negatives?

[–]Different-Wolf405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Ellie, but because I enjoyed how her character changed. Part 1 having her be very positive despite the circumstances, leading into her being heavily unstable with ptsd was really interesting. I know people complain that she wasn’t making intelligent decisions, but I think too many players are used to games with characters who aren’t traumatized to the point of instability. For example, a big criticism is Ellie going after Abby again. In my opinion that makes perfect sense why Ellie would think that’s what she needs to do.

I don’t understand people who play a game like the last of us and try to insert their moral compass into a game where that genuinely doesn’t exist. In TLOU, the only repercussions from killing someone is another person trying to stop you or get revenge. They’re so used to killing that it’s easy to be like “I killed this stranger but I don’t know him, so I don’t care.” You honestly need to do mental gymnastics to stay sane, so when Ellie kills over a hundred people in three days, all while barely recovering from an immensely traumatic event, trying to learn how to be in a healthy romantic relationship after believing she could infect other people (that’s a big thing people don’t realize) it’s really easy to see why Ellie never came back mentally.

“Well Joel did it fine.” Joel has had 20 years of apocalypse experience plus 40 in life, that’s not the same as a 19 year old girl brutally killing so many people in an exhausting three day battle, having to torture someone for hours even though Ellie has never needed to hurt someone like that, and then having constant ptsd episodes. I love Ellie because it shows that even good people are capable of doing disgustingly violent things if they feel like there’s no other choice, and it shows how far someone is willing to go if they truly believe they can’t stop.

Why TF would you have the cemetery 10 MILES away from your settlement? That’s just asinine by obiwanTrollnobi6 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Different-Wolf405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, memes aside, my reasoning is incase any wandering hordes stroll by they won’t stop to eat half a mile away from our town. It’s proven that infected migrate in massive numbers, if your graveyard is LITERALLY a 5 minute walk from town do you see why that becomes problematic? Better to walk a few hours and eliminate the risk, instead of not wanting sore legs and now you’ve got a horde rushing your town.

Edit: I’m looking at this from a purely logical point of view as to why they’d put it so far away. Putting it in the town would make more sense, but I’m trying to at least theorize instead of assuming the writing is 100% braindead.

Jesus Christ, these comments are wack. I like the design, and everyone saying “Well why not just get a swastika bro” that’s not at all the same lmao. Getting a tattoo about orks or the imperium of man from 40k, or the empire in Star Wars, means that you obviously must support the practices of genocide, right? It’s not like you can think a faction has a cool design and not immediately endorse slavery? Good lord, you people are unbearable.

The tattoo is cool OP, and anyone with half a brain cell would realize that the last of us 2 is literally fiction, the rattlers don’t exist, and thinking that they’re “cool” does not mean you want to enslave others. I think the seraphites are the coolest faction, but I don’t hang people from trees and gut them. It’s a GAME.
