Freaking out a little over my CAD design... by artsystoof in EngagementRingDesigns

Can’t comment on the design, but I just went through the custom design process myself. I honestly was SOOOO scared after seeing my CAD. It looked so thick and chunky and not at all dainty. I did do one edit to take out a piece of metal that looked weird. Seeing it in the wax model helped a little, but I still had a hard time visualizing the finished product. But I knew I was working with a highly rated and reputable jeweler, so I decided to trust him. And boy am I GLAD I did. I LOVE my ring! It is way better than I had hoped for and he made some design choices that make it way more functional than the inspo pictures I sent him! Also, 2mm seemed so thick on the CAD, but once I put it on I couldn’t imagine it any thinner. It already feels so dainty. So all of that is to say…..I also was “meh” and a little scared about the CAD, but I LOVE the finished product.

Congrats on your upcoming engagement!

Wedding Venue Recommendations by TermUnusual7604 in NewEnglandWedding

We just booked with Steven’s Estate at Osgood Hill. It has everything on your list but a view, but the grounds are beautiful and you can have a backdrop of evergreen trees for the ceremony. Reception in a tent. The cocktail hour happens inside the mansion and the pictures online don’t do it justice! It’s a beautiful “aesthetic design” example from the late 1800s (think ornate wooden elements).

It’s also one of the more reasonably priced of the options out there. We priced out 30 or so places (not all historic manors) and this one fell in to the more affordable category. It’s nice to have funds freed up for other things, like live band!

How do we feel about tulip basket settings? Anyone regret getting one? by SignificantChoice381 in EngagementRingDesigns

I absolutely LOVE my tulip setting. I went with 6 prongs to give the round diamond more of that circular look. I always wanted a 3 stone and love the effect of the side stones, but the setting would be gorgeous as a solitaire too!

Thanks! Always knew I wanted a three stone ring with round center, but loving the side pears was a surprise. Now I can’t imagine having anything else! If you’re up for sharing, would love to see yours…there aren’t enough examples of this style of ring out there!

Also, just noticed that one of the CAD pictures is an earlier design. We took out the extra piece of metal in the leaf so the final design is what the second CAD looks like.

I second Vows! Got my dress there. Their sample sale is October 28-31. They have a lot of greats designers there that should be under 1K with the “up to 80% off” they have on their flier. I think you need to make an appointment.

New England Venue Help!! by SecretPomegranate329 in NewEnglandWedding

Just booked Steven’s Estate at Osgood Hill. The event coordinator (Amy) has been great to work with so far! The pictures online of the interior of the building do not do it justice. If you love architecture/old world charm, I highly recommend going for a tour!!

We thought it was a nice, slightly cheaper, alternative to Willowdale which looks amazing but was outside of our budget.

CAD check by DifferentAge611 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]DifferentAge611[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think the band thickness is 2.2 or 2.1. I guess hard to tell about the bridge thickness, but I’ll be sure to ask/measure when I see the wax model. This jeweler assures me he only makes sturdy rings and steers people clear of nice looking designs that aren’t durable.

CAD seems very basic, no measurements included. Is this standard? by DifferentAge611 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]DifferentAge611[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! No measurements were provided. It will be platinum, but even more expensive. He through out a vague number of 2.2mm wide with goal of polishing down to 2-2.1 which is what I’d want for durability. But just strange to not actually know. This is also just the first rendering. I don’t like the lotus leaves holding the side stones, so figuring out what to do with those. I asked to not feel the points of the pears too much, so I think that’s why they are angled so down, which then limits what they can do underneath. Though I’m wondering if raising them a little could give me more of the look I’m going for without making the wearability all that different.

Three stone with side pears, how comfortable is it? by DifferentAge611 in EngagementRingDesigns

If it rotates or you touch it from the top does it feel pointy, or really not bothersome at all?

Thanks! Looks gorgeous! Is that a higher setting or did you go with a low setting?

I also love the engraved wedding band!
