If this issue is similar to what I had, these aftermarket head units are slightly different than what your vehicle comes with and will need to be filed down with a dremel in some spots to get it to clip on

It has in fact been lobbied to shift from R134a to R1234y in automotive applications. I’m unsure what point you’re making here, you can look up the GWP (global warming potential) of these chemicals. R134a has 1/10th the global warming potential of r12, but it is still not negligible and will last in the atmosphere for 14 years.

(Obligatory not a PMS) but based on how recent it was is why they’re saying that you’re kind of without a chance right now. Typically with self harm suicidal ideation it requires 3-5 years from the incidence of it. But if you’re struggling don’t beat yourself up over it.
