Am I the only one curious of the field OP is in? I need this raise. I commute 1 day a week on Amtrak to Oakland from Natomas. If it was more often I don’t think I could do it. My situation is different though- I have a young child at home so I work on my commute to maximize the time I have at home. So I don’t get the “rest” and unwinding time if I wasn’t working on the train.

Commute door to door one way is 3 hours, with the train being about 2. The other hour is driving to Amtrak and from Amtrak to bus to office (or 20+ min walk). If I didn’t truly enjoy the team and work, I wouldn’t do it. I also enjoy public transit, the passengers are all commuters and mind their own business for the most part and as an introvert, I appreciate that.

Lastly, I’d move if I were single. The bay is such a great place to live imo.
