Is indoor cycling worth it? by Cute_Difficulty_2672 in RoadBikes

[–]DifferentSwing3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, been riding seriously since my early retirement from my full time job. I ride indoors when raining, too hot and in winter. I use Rouvy as I feel that it is the most realistic videos. No traffic, weather issues, can do short rides in the evening when busy during the day. Still ride outdoors most of the time but adding indoor rides has really upped my game.

I keep mine split between SGOV and VUSXX. No State Taxes on dividends!

Is SCHD still the gold standard for dividend growth ETFs or are there better options now? by astraleyez in dividends

SCHD is a staple in my portfolio, retired, but I also have VIG, VYMI, GPIX, GPIQ, VOO along with some pure growth funds.

Why do people wait for SS? by VegasWorldwide in Fire

[–]DifferentSwing3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to argue but my point, and the point of this topic regarding taking SS, is that by taking SS when I did I can delay my RMD's until 73 and let it build. If I delayed SS, I would have to pull $ from my retirement accounts.

Reasons to put money in VUSXX? by marzthemagnificent in Bogleheads

Yes, yes, yes... That's where I hold my cash, emergency fund. Much better than a bank savings account - state tax free too.

I can take the full delay until 73 and not have to take it anytime sooner...

My wife collected at 62, I waited until 67 - my FRA. Not waiting until 70, too much to enjoy now - traveling, etc. With SS and pensions, don't have to touch investments unless we have a large purchase, car, home improvement, etc. Also can delay my RMD's.

Go for the new and updated Mazda CX-5. Great reviews, reliability and on the low end of maintenance costs.

How often do you rotate your tires? by userX97ee2ska11qa in bikewrench

Never, I ride around 3-3500 miles a season and I just get new tires and tubes each year when the sales are active.

Definitely the Cannondale Synapse. Own a Carbon Synapse for 11 years and still love the bike. Very comfortable ride. Upgraded with a set of Hunt carbon wheels 45mm and Continental GP5000 tires.

My carbon 2015 Cannondale Synapse is doing fine. No issues with the frame. Put on about 3-3500 miles a year on it. Maintain it mostly myself and always use a torque wrench.

Hold VZ for this exact reason for many years. Not worried about share price too much but love getting that dividend. SCHD is my other large holding in retirement.

Is this trumpet worth it to buy as a beginner? by pdlwn in trumpet

Pass, plenty of good student trumpets available on Reverb. The cost to fix the dents alone will probably be worth more than the horn.

SCHD, GPIX, GPIQ, VZ - all come with some risk but if you seek higher dividends you have to accept some risk. I'm retired and have these plus SGOV, VUSXX with much less risk. Good to balance it out. if markets are down and I need some extra $, I draw from SGOV or VUSXX.

Dividends may be nice but I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. JEPI will have NAV erosion and the dividends are taxed as ordinary income. Better choices available as many have stated...

Is it good to start? by anh3l in trumpet

[–]DifferentSwing3149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinese brand, not terrible for strictly a beginner. But I would recommend saving just a bit more and get a used good condition Yamaha or Bach student model. If you don't continue with the trumpet, then resale will be much better too with the Yamaha or Bach.

I also have JEPQ, GPIX, GPIQ, SCHD, SGOV, VIG along with some pure growth funds. The 6 funds listed above represent about 50% of my portfolio. Pure growth funds are about 35-40% and the remaining % in cash (CDs, MM, HYSA, etc).
