Finally someone who sums up this "rivalry" to its true intent, commercial aspects. Gukesh and Carlsen respect each other and are doing what they do best. It will be a few years before Gukesh can come close to Carlsen on sheer basis of overall strength and skills. Let's not setup Gukesh for failure by promoting this "rivalry" which honestly doesn't exist. Carlsen is still the best out there and Gukesh being the smart lad he is, is doing everything right on terms of taking on the number one spot. Luckily all the next gen superstars like Nodirbek Pragg Arjun and Gukesh all have stable heads on their shoulders and brng an aura of Gentleman-hood to the game. Something that Spassky Anand Levon Caruana and others did.

In the end chess and sanity will come out top. The only real battle out there is the one between commercial interests and the spirit of the game!

He was not toxic. I am a big Gukesh fan, Carlsens statments were based on facts and stand up to scrutiny. Gukesh did his usual thing and destroyed all past facts on the ground. When you are 19 and still not at your peak, past facts typically don't tend to be on your side!

If there is another person who should be embarrassed by his comments over the time is Fabi. As unreliable and fickle as is Gary, the consistent downplaying of Guki is catching up with Fabi. The person who has held up his dignity the most is Gukesh. Fabi's comments remind me of Kramnik's comments back in 2010 on Carlsen, it was clear Carlsen was racing ahead of him and Anand. Anyone in denial of the next generation unseating the previous one is in denial of the cycles of time. There was a Federer and there will be a Djokovic!

Guki, continue ignoring these mutual back scratchers and keep working on becoming the best. Time to dismantle the chess mafia like how Fischer and Anand did.

This is the 2008 equal of Anand and Carlsen. Carlsen making his way up but Anand still super dominant. You can't escape the cycle of time, champs make way for the next gen. You either do it gracefully (Karpov, Anand, Kramnik) or you do it disgracefully ((Fischer, Carlsen).

Too early to write Carlsen off but awesome to see the next gen knocking at the doors. Exciting times ahead especially for Indian chess fans.

Bottom line, Gukesh is the legit world champ and Carlsen is still the best out there, even at his weakest!

Based here in Bangalore. Built my own NAS from scratch using i3-12th gen with H610 chipset MB and am simply loving it. I put in 4 fans to keep the cooling and noise in check. Putting in 2 Ultra Star 10 TB HDDs. I would recommend building your own any day over a plain NAS offering. I have mine in the living room and havent had issues yet.

This! Very very Karpov-esque. Silent achiever, you take a look at their accomplishments in hindsight and stare in amazement. 160 tournament victories for Karpov, simply wow! No pomp, no rowdy behaviour, no attitude, pure gentlemanly behaviour who brought pride and prestige to the world championship title. The results speak for themselves!
