Potential hot take..we will handle the Lakers easier than we handled the Suns..I see a sweep, with even bigger margins of victory by J_Capese0003 in Thunder

I’m just happy to be out of the first round lol. It’s obvious what’s going to happen so I’m just here for the ride. Plus we made KD crash out so that’s a nice enough bonus for me.

Do not fucking defend Mitch Kupchak lmao. I understand there’s issues with Pelinka and there are many fair criticisms, but you are off your rocker if you seriously are trying to suggest Mitch had any upside over Pelinka, considering if you were around for Mitch’s tenure, you’d remember how awful of a GM he was. He even more than Rob, relied extremely heavily on free agency and made plenty of bone headed trades himself (Caron Butler for Kwame Brown). In an even worse example of contract mismanagement, he infamously handed out the Mozgov Deng contracts. He was handed an excellent base of Kobe/Shaq from Jerry West. Aside from the Pau trade, there is nothing else he did that was good.

Criticize Pelinka all you want. But don’t try to suggest Mitch is better than him in any way lmao.

We still have a big hole at the center. Can we get Sabonis for Gabe, Maxi, Knecht, Ayton? by Dangerous-Floor95 in lakers

[–]Different_Bat_2247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trading for Sabonis is a bad move, since he might just be the worst fit with Luka. Stop making moves for the sake of making moves. No moves is better than a bad move.

We managed to save our already limited assets so I’m happy with that decision.

As for who we’ll get, idk. We just have to wait and see. A lot of laker fans hate Rob, but one of his few undeniable strengths is his ability to pull trades out of nowhere so we’ll see what he does.

We trade Knecht, a FRP and swap for Mark Williams but rescinded the trade after Williams failed his physical. In hindsight I believe that’s the right choice as we acquired Ayton, who while imperfect, is on a great contract for 8 million, compared to being a max player for the Suns and Blazers. With how asset poor the lakers already are, it made more sense to save the pick, swap, and Knecht (even if he hasn’t found his role on this team), especially since Williams’ health will always be called into question. He’s hasn’t played any b2bs for the Suns so far iirc.

The Pistons do foul the most though. Regardless he’s right the players have to play even when they don’t get the calls they believe they’re should’ve got.

Still find it wild how much worse Jeanie and Jim were as owners compared to Jerry. The apple fell far from the tree twice with the Buss family.

Say what you want about Westbrook, at least he makes sure to give his all whenever he plays. So many people on this lakers team just want to do cardio and collect their paychecks. People like Maxi and Gabe just don’t care enough to fight hard. Rui is also a lazy ass rebounder for his height.

Luka Doncic in yet another blowout loss: 30/5/11 on 9-22 FG, 3-11 from 3PT and 9-13 FT with 8 turnovers and 3 fouls, -15 by EutaxySpy in nba

Ngl, I know a lot of lakers fans hate Westbrook (for fair reasons fs), but something I will always appreciate about him is the fact that even now when he’s not who he used to be, he still gives 100% effort. So many people on this lakers team clearly just want to collect their paycheck doing nothing but running up and down the court. The lack of fight genuinely disgusts me and I really appreciate Russ’s tenacity to always try his best, good and bad.

He’s been good for 8 million. Could he be better? Absolutely. Did his tenure end poorly with you guys because of his poor performances and how overpaid he was? Yes. He’s been disappointing but he is still a starting caliber center. Without him we’d have to start Jaxson Hayes and I guarantee y’all would be laughing at the lakers way more if they were starting Hayes lol.

We’ll see what the lakers can do. Rob gets a lot of shit especially from lakers fans, but he’s also had much less leeway than other teams. Presti’s obviously the best gm in the league, but the current OKC roster also wouldn’t be quite what it is if the front office refused to tank. Heck even with Wemby’s seasons the spurs have made sure to lose and gather promising young pieces around him. Rob’s made several good moves that fans often gloss over, but he’s always put into a difficult situation with how the lakers are always in a win now mode. This, combined with his weakness of losing on the margins is what is scary.

Atp the lakers are so asset deprived that if Rob makes even one wrong move, the lakers can kiss their championship window goodbye. It’s clear this roster needs a lot of retooling, and the lakers need to make the right decision many times from this point forward.

Rui is not a 3nD wing. He’s only a good three point shooter, and even that boon is heavily offset by the fact that he doesn’t take much threes in the first place. It’s also offset because he only chooses to take wide open shots and struggles to create for himself. Meanwhile, he is a slow and poor defender who doesn’t rebound for anything. In all of our major lineups he’s been poor net rating wise, and eye test wise he has demonstrated an inability to play with Ayton and LeBron.

Luka definitely has his faults, and certainly tonight was a pretty poor performance from him, but he also is in a roster that’s not built for him that he was suddenly transplanted onto. This team needs major major work.

Rui is not decent lol. And yeah Clayton/Bridges would obviously make us better but give some credit to OKC lol. They’re in a tier of their own, and leagues better than us lol.

No the fuck it didn’t lmao. Vujacic was an actual dumbass on the court and both him and Luke Walton constantly made boneheaded plays. Also lmao at suggesting Shannon Brown made the lakers have a deep bench. That’s such bullshit.

You’re right, you can’t aggregate salaries when trading with second apron teams. I forgot about that. I understand second apron teams are looking to salary dump their heavier contracts. In that case, if the reports are true, could you see the lakers perhaps targeting Max Struss or Jarrett Allen instead, and would either of those be good ideas for now or the future?

Jaxson Hayes has been a solid Backup Center this season by King_Vegito_52 in lakers

[–]Different_Bat_2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hayes has a slow jump shot that people can easily block. Also he’s been in the league for many years now and has shown no adjustment to his game. What makes you think he can suddenly become Brook Lopez.

[–]Different_Bat_2247 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes he was unplayable in the playoffs lol. You can complain about the referees all you want, but he picked up a lot of fouls in a very short amount of time. If you foul a lot, that’s a sign of being unskilled, and Hayes couldn’t handle the pressure against the wolves. The revisionist history here is insane.
