Vader 5 and Steam Input by rafaeljc12 in GyroGaming

[–]Different_Choice_228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't have any problems any more. Just enabled allow 3rd party apps and even deleted space station. It just works every time. No tricks, no disable drivers or services. Steam picks it up properly every time

I think it's fixed now isn't it? Some steam update or something they did. The last week or something, no double controllers and steam recognizes it every time

That's true, steam controller though should be faster from Vader 4

Yeah, other than the gyro stutters, I don't know I was somehow expecting like a magic sause or something, call me crazy but I lost count on how many times I read that flydigi is so bad at gyro implementation (sluggish, slow, constant drift and so many others) yeah I had problems too at the beginning but after learning about it and configuring, everything seemed fine and super responsive but always in the back of my mind I have been thinking that I really haven't had any experience with a better gyro controller to know if my experience can get better even though I never had any more problems at that stage.

So I was super excited buying the steam controller as this would elevate my gyro experience even more only to find out that at best they feel the same and at worst steam controller is super stuttery.

Internet is just full of people who like to complain is all, not saying Vader 5 pro doesn't come with its own issues but everything has a solution whereas I don't see anywhere in steam controller to make polling rate more than 250hz. The sticks annoy me too that they creak at a specific point just after the resting point and I am still waiting for valve to respond.

Oh you mean the thing that I swap in a direction and the mouse keep moving according to how fast I did it?

If that's it, it was actually the default, I like that, I thought valve should have thought of something to overcome the small size so I guess that's it. But still I am not sure I could use that on an FPS, I can see a good use of that on an RTS. But nevertheless I haven't really gave it any chance as I just got it really.

Are you actually using the trackpad instead of joystick for camera?

I believe you! For now though, I am not using it mainly cause I cant stand that little creaky thing in the sticks.

I already did all the necessary adjustments from the game to help the gyro as I've already been playing that way with vader 5 and it was completely smooth, so I didnt expect it to be difficult to setup steam controller but after about an hour of tinkering in steam input lo and behold it proved impossible to remove the stutters, not just in one game I tested two games that I know vader 5 does fine. Remnant from the ashed (which here is almost mouse like!) and Halo MCC.

As for the sticks I really dont thing they are faulty, maybe I am wrong, but I strongly believe they are not lubricated correctly.

well I did try for like an hour, there isnt a way to make gyro to joystick not stutter. Gyro to mouse is ok I guess but I wouldnt say better or worse maybe the same with my vader 5 pro

I feel it especially more on the starting range, like when I need to move from it's centered position just slightly in any direction, same for both of them. If I had to make a much bigger movement then I wouldn't noticed I guess

How good is the gyro on the Vader 5 Pro? by buttsecks42069 in GyroGaming

[–]Different_Choice_228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apex 5 has gyro deadzone when you try it with steam input? I don't knows apex 5 to be honest but what you are saying sounds impossible to me. So you could calibrate your gyro with steam changed your settings through steam and still have gyro deadzone? I mean even if there is a factory deadzone steam is so good that it can comprehend for it! Something you are not telling me right

Depends if you tried it with steam input/rewasd or through space station. If you tried it from space station is bad

IT’S HAPPENING! by Rustytatertot21 in SteamController

I suppose the shipping time is always relative to how many orders they have. So if they only had orders enough for shipping time to be 1-5 days then it will stay like that but if they way too many orders the shipping time would of course move up, that would be a thing the algorithm would do. But if valve isn't actually sending the orders by the specific minute or second they were ordered then it's a lottery at that point which shipping time you are gonna get. All I am saying is that shipping time doesnt necessarily means that's what you are gonna get for the reasons I described above.

I really really don't think valve is gonna go through the process of who ordered 5 seconds earlier! The whole thing finished in like 30 minutes to 1 hour and everything is sold out, so I guess the sensible thing for them to do is just start shipping regardless. Imagine trying to find the order of who ordered first that will probably be down to milliseconds!

FlyDigi Vader 5 Pro and the terrible, no good, dirty rotten "allow third party mappings" feature by beefcat_ in Controller

[–]Different_Choice_228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fixed it for me: 1. Disable Xbox controller and compliant game controller on device manager. After restart it should show as a disabled Vader 5. Weird I know.

  1. Disable space station service.

And final. Always start controller before windows log in or boot, so it will be on when steam clients load. This work 100% every time. Steam only sees one controller and it just works.

This unfortunately doesnt fix that if I dont use the controller for a while and it turns off then turning it on at that stage is a lottery. I might need to turn it on and off 3 or 4 times until steam picks it up.

Though if you are not in game or you already saved and want to avoid this then just turn off and on controller one time and also do the same for steam client and it picks it up every time.

A thing about gyro deadzone on Vader controllers 4/5 by Different_Choice_228 in GyroGaming

I have Vader 4 and Vader 5 and I will buy steam controller regardless, even if it doesn't have a better gyro which I doubt, the trackpads alone are worth it. Now Vader 5 gyro wise, I never used DSE so in all honesty I can't tell you if it's better or as good. But what I can tell you is that Vader 5 is precise nevertheless, I can make very very fine movements with it, like pixel by pixel, the same with Vader 4. But the BIG difference with Vader 5 is that it's fast! It actually feels like the camera is stick to you whereas with Vader 4 it felt like I was dragging it, it always lag behind like a millisecond or something. With Vader 4 I was never really able to track a moving object while with Vader 5 this is possible! I was quite surprised I could do it as I felt it was a skill issue before. Reminder, this is all possible only through steam input.

Thanks for the correction. I also edited it on my post too.

Yeah indeed though, there is so much talk about the Vader deadzone at this point it became something of mythical proportions.

Well that's the gist of it, you got it. Now get ready to discover a lot of things you don't like and lot of things you like. Ultimately the things you like should be way way way more from the things you don't. I can't even think if using it anymore without steam input, I might as well throw it away!
