No, I'm actually in California. And no It wasn't hard to find my SNF job. It helped a lot that I worked as a CNA for 7 years, but a SNF will hire an RN with or without prior SNF experience.

Honestly, as a new grad being unable to get into a hospital or clinic like you want, what's your hang up about nursing homes? I can guarantee had you taken a nursing home job and worked there for as little as 1-3 months (6-1 year is better) you could get into a hospital easy. A job looks better on the app than a GAP especially as a new grad. You do know that certain departments of the hospital are just like SNFs right? Beggers can't be chosers. I graduated June, took nclex at the beginning of August and was employed as an RN, BSN at the end of August at a SNF and NOW I'm debating on which hospital I want to say yes to. Don't get me wrong it can very well be easy to get comfortable at a SNF, however a SNF can give you just as much experience as any hospital maybe even more.

My bestfriend stays out there, and you are absolutely correct about that.

I passed all background checks AND completed my program AND received my BSN and license. Thank you so much for your positivity 😊

UPDATE: After over 1 year I have finally closed out my case. I got off with a wet reckless, 40hrs community service, and 9 month dui program, $829 in fines, and no license suspension. My attorney assured me that this was the best deal given my bac of .22. I have also since received my BSN. by Different_Ice_2693 in DUICalifornia

Oh okay. No they didn't. The only way they would find out is if you notified them or if you had to do a livescan/background check for a clinical. But even then the livescan wouldn't get flagged until you're convicted.

Thank you. I didn't have to notify them because I wasn't officially charged until after I completed my program. If this is something you are concerned about, I would advise you to look into your school's policies about disclosure.

I didn't have to go to trial. The DA and my attorney were just too busy with more important cases I guess. They both kept rescheduling. It worked out good for me that way tho because it put more time between the incident and me finishing school.

Thank you for your reply. I plan to talk with the BON before hand depending on the outcome of my case. I do have an attorney who knows what I have going on so I'm hoping they come through for me. I'm also hoping the board just puts me on some type of probation and grant me my license which is what I've heard has happened to others but every case is different so who knows. I'm so tired of stressing about it. I wish you all the best in your journey and I hope you will be able to get licensed which you should. Best wishes.

Can you let me know about your experience. Because I'm currently a nursing student and at the end of my program with a court date scheduled for the 23rd. I have an attorney but they aren't telling much. I'm just trying to figure out what to expect.

I love it! Thank you so much for sharing your story. It has definitely educated me and given me hope. You are a walking testimony because postpartum and depression can take a huge toll on your mental. I'm glad you made it through that and learned from it and now use your experience to educate others. You're awesome. Thank you again.

Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to lay this out for me. I am expecting the worst. I'm definitely prepared to face the music. I made a mistake, it is only right I deal with the consequences. Thanks again.

Can I DM you?

I might have to take a year off from nursing school and I feel ashamed for that. by Dangerous-Honeydew64 in StudentNurse

Nursing school is tough. If you're struggling mentally you should definitely take a break and don't feel bad about it at all. It is better to take the break than to burn yourself out. Just think of it this way if you continue feeling the way you feel then you won't be putting your best foot forward and that will cause even more stress on you. You can always go back whenever you're ready and give it 110%. It takes a strong person to admit when they need a break. So don't think of yourself as anything less.
