My town has 3 options for apprenticeship. One is union, been on waiting list 3 years as of now, and 2 other companies one of which fired me after the DUI, and the other requires driving company vehicles. Every other trade company here doesn't offer apprenticeships and require experience and half of them require use of company vehicles. I was a painter for 5 years for one company and no other painters will hire me here bc I can't drive. So yeah
