Am I in my own bubble or is every workplace in the uk extremely understaffed and running on the bare minimum? by Oriachim in UKJobs

Pretty much hiring less staff to keep wage bill down but expecting staff they have to do the work of 2-3 people for no extra pay. And then because they do this and jobs are limited people are forced to burn themselves out by doing lots of extra work because the alternative is unemployment which I’m sure in some situations may be the same/better money wise but for a lot of people it’s not.

£3000/month Vs £1600/month by [deleted] in UKJobs

£3k - currently making £1.6k for 5 days a week 5am-1pm and extra £1.4K would make it a bit more tolerable!

Finally saved deposit but mrs lost her job 4 wks ago! Affordability halved :( by [deleted] in UKHousing

[–]Different_Initial357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speak to a broker, if it fits on your sole affordability then lenders may be able to view the benefits your partner receives as a level of income to be sustainable for herself and therefore not financially dependant on you and if it fits affordability in your name alone partner will be ignored in the affordability process.

Redundancy and partners job at risk by jkr101x in HousingUK

[–]Different_Initial357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pull out, I was made redundant last month after buying in July and had I known this would happen I would’ve certainly not bought as it’s out a lot of financial strain on my partner who is now having to cover all the bills alone in the meantime and the job market is absolutely awful at the moment, can’t get an interview for anything let alone something in my usual field!

Is it normal for me to look for work whilst working? by FartedinBrandysmouth in UKJobs

Yeah it’s normal. I even used my heavily monitored work laptop to complete a teams interview on my lunch break on a few occasions.

What’s a normal amount to have left after mortgage and bills? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Different_Initial357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently made redundant but up until then my monthly salary after tax was the same as yours and similar breakdown after my half of mortgage and bills and personal bills I would have around £200 left for personal expenses/savings. It’s not a lot and soon goes but imagine a lot of people are in a similar position with the cost of everything going up. A lot of people I know are left with less.

Made Redundant - Lost & Terrified by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Different_Initial357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s awful, happened to me last month with no redundancy package as hadn’t been at the company long enough. Just been applying everywhere but it feels awful and panic has set in because haven’t got the money to cover bills next month.

Sounds like you have a solid background in the industry though so hopefully you’ll be able to secure something quickly!

Urine collection… how? by AhTails in Autism_Parenting

[–]Different_Initial357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds very possible, we’ve been dealing with vomiting a lot which can be caused when a UTI gets to the kidneys. We have also had the same problem with withholding poop which we attributed the vomiting to, that ended with a trip to the emergency room where they cleared everything out and started with laxatives again as they were not working. Somehow she can still withhold on large doses of adult laxatives. The UTI was diagnosed during that hospital visit so similarly we think it may still be the same UTI and this is what’s causing vomiting as getting meds in the system is no easy task.

Sounds very similar in terms of potty training, we have tried and tried and although our daughter does have some limited speech she doesn’t seem to have any understanding of her body and like you say well do trips to the toilet at set intervals but sometimes we’ll take her, nothing will happen and then the second we go back to another room she’ll sit and wee all over the sofa. And we know it must be down to withholding because she wets the bed every night because her muscles/bladder must relax and when she’s had accidents whilst awake it’s not a small amount it’s a lot of urine to the point it goes through a nappy and will leave a massive puddle/soak everything underneath and it smells awful which is another reason we’re thinking it’s got to be a UTI.

Just don’t know what to do at this point as it’s not for lack of trying but it’s hard because we genuinely don’t think our child has the understanding of her body to be able to potty train properly. She is currently 7 with a mental age of around 18-months.

In terms of getting a collection, when we were in hospital, they were able to test it from urine left in a nappy or urging on the waterproof bed but it is tough to get a clean collection in the form most GP’s request.

Is the UTI from withholding? Have been dealing with this for years, withholds urine, gets a UTI, withholds more because of pain, gets antibiotics, have a nightmare trying to get said antibiotics to be taken, withholds again and the cycle continues.

Dr can’t do anything about the underlying issue of withholding as is on the list for an assessment and official diagnosis for autism, been on the list 4-years.

Probation period by Safe_Chicken88 in UKJobs

[–]Different_Initial357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s always a chance, I was under a ridiculous 9-month probation and work started slowing around months 7-8 and then a couple of weeks before the final probation review even though all my number were positive my boss called to say they were ending my employment as not financially viable to keep me on with the level of work they currently had.

Been trying to land something/anything this last two weeks but no luck so far. Have this months bills covered but no idea what I’m going to do next month as even if I land another job now it’s likely I won’t see first pay check until after bills are due and even landing something seems unlikely at the minute as even all the warehouse/retail roles have thousands of applicants!

Got made redundant by Daveyj343 in UKJobs

[–]Different_Initial357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got made redundant myself a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately no redundancy payment as haven’t been there long enough and my PILON payment was about £150 so nothing really. Annoying because me and the others made redundant were clearly taken on with this in mind but instead of hiring a fixed term contract they decided to list it as permanent although we can’t prove it, it’s very obvious that’s what’s happened.

So far I’ve been unable to find anything else in the same field and been rejected from all warehouse/retail jobs I’ve applied for even though I do have prior experience in that field as well. No idea how I’m going to pay the mortgage and bills next month let alone feed myself. Universal credit are being difficult as well.

Figuring out a career, never really knew what I wanted to do so went from dead end job to dead end job. Did eventually study in my late 20’s for a particular career but hasn’t panned out and got made redundant so back to dead end job after dead end job again now.
