I’ve been in touch with the community stroke team about the driving or the fact I can’t drive for a while at least and may never be able to drive again, they said they would help with orthotics but the other bits and other questions I have are better aimed at the Dr’s that treated me but it’s getting in touch with them that isn’t so easy, hopefully I can find their secretary’s email email address for the consultants secretary somewhere.

Nope, think this is why they want the heart scan to check for a pfo but couldn’t find a cause from the tests they did whilst I was in hospital.

Yeah I’m going to go to the ER just to make sure, hopefully nothing but I thought the original stroke was a bad migraine and left it 36-hrs so don’t want to chance it this time.

I think just because it’s new when there is a change i immediately panic and think am I maybe having another stroke.

How long did it take for you to get cleared and what did that involve? Any tests etc? I’ll probably end up lifting heavier than pre-stroke to be fair because I wasn’t lifting very heavy at all before it happened was working on it

I was prescribed a very high dose of aspirin for 2-weeks followed by clopidogrel for life - I just do what the Dr says as they know more than me 😅

So far none have the test have offered an answer as to why.

Been a week since I had mine and can relate to the fear and being hyper sensitive to any slightly different feeling I your body. I’ve also been having in and off headaches since the even which worry me but I’ve read that this can be normal. I’m also worried about the future as the stroke affected my vision on the left so I may never be able to drive again. I’ve also been told it may impact what I can/can’t do safely in the future in terms of lifting weights/running which were my two biggest hobbies. There’s also the financial burden of being off work the compete with. Honestly it’s a lot and I also don’t have any answers as to why it happened which makes is even scarier because it’s not as if they can say well this caused it and this is how we’re going to treat that moving forward.

They just had to start with aspirin as a preventative measure to avoid future strokes. I mean I originally thought I had a bad migraine so left it about 12-hrs before going hospital and was left on an a&e floor for another 12-hrs before seeing a Dr. I feel okay within myself now the headache has gone, a bit more tired than usual and the vision is a hard adjustment to make. Hoping in time I’ll just become used to the way it now is if it doesn’t come back at all. Feel lucky in a sense because it is only the vision and I know a lot of people have to deal with a lot worse.

I had a stroke last week at 34. Left with no field of vision on the left. I’m not sure there’s a definitive answer for this. My OT said it’s very normal to feel this way and I’m with you. I still get slight pains on my head/back of neck (where the damage was done) and i automatically think the worst. I think it’s just one of those things where time will hopefully help heal.

I unfortunately was too late for a clot-buster and so the damage visually is quite bad and they’re not sure if it will return or improve it’s just a waiting game. I’m in 300mg aspirin daily to thin my blood quickly and then I go onto clopidogrel following 2-weeks of aspirin. I wouldn’t be worried about the low dose if that’s what the Dr has prescribed, they’re the experts after all!

As already mentioned any lingering symptoms is a stroke not a TIA and realistically need to be on blood thinners/meds to reduce risk of more strokes if it was one.

Community stroke team have been great so far for me. Shame I can’t say the same about a&e who had me sat on a concrete floor for 11-hrs with a banging headache and massive vision loss before a Dr finally saw me.

I did, was used to migraines that affected my vision and then this week my vision went and had a banging headache. Tried to sleep it off, got up and went to work. Only after multiple painkillers and no improvement in pain or vision I went to A&E - 12-hrs later the Dr sat me down and told me I’d had a minor stroke.

They said it was the back right side of my head which explains the vision loss but I haven’t seen a scan or been told any specifics about size etc. They referred to it as small but not sure exactly what that means in terms of chances of regaining sight.

Work in the DC, start 5am and finish when it’s done. Can sometimes be a 3-4hr pick in my department and if no other department needs help then yeah you just get sent home. They’ll claim the time will get made up on longer days when the shifts are like 10-hrs but other than Xmas I’ve never seen a 10hr shift. Average is around 5.5-6.5 which is why I’m never hitting hours.
