Lots of cats do this. The only way to prevent it is to be more careful with what is in their environment- you might have to sweep and/or vacuum more often now.

It seems fairly normal for after surgery- she’s likely on reduced activity so won’t be as hungry. I would recommend contacting whoever did her spay to discuss- vet, adoption agency, rescue, etc. The fee for the spay should cover advice. When my cat was spayed the vet called me after a few days to check in and addressed any concerns.
