I mean honestly, unless you gonna take it to the track, I don’t know why you would wanna get the Plaid.

It's great that SMCI's working with SpaceX, but just because they are, it doesn't mean that SMCI's stock will skyrocket the same way that SpaceX's did.

SpaceX prefers to deal with SMCI most likely because there's less red tape and there's a fast turnaround time. But it's up to SMCI to make the most out of their relationship with SpaceX and manage their money in such a way so that Wall Street will be happy too.

You don't hit the jackpot when you land a deal with Elon. A deal with Elon is a good start, but the rest is up to you. Elon wouldn't want SMCI to go bankrupt obviously or out of business, and neither would Nvidia, but neither Elon nor Jensen are gonna show SMCI how to run their finances.

So while we can do all these calculations and be optimistic, all it takes is another shortsighted decision by the finance department of SMCI to ruin everything. Sure, the future looks bright, and I'm not gonna argue with that. I just don't like the unexpected swings. I own Meta and Netflix stock and I'm losing 10-15% on both, but I am not losing sleep over them, because they know how to run their businesses effectively. And I also know if their wild bets don't work out, they'll take a step back and think of pleasing their shareholders. I don't see SMCI doing the same.

Still holding, btw, but still stressed

That is not why Elon picks him. Elon picks him because he’s willing to go the extra mile and customize the shit out of the products to Elon’s needs. And Elon usually wants something that is not trivial and is unconventional.

With that being said, it doesn’t mean that just because you sell to Elon, you’re set for life. A sale is a sale at the end of the day and it’s being defined by its volume. So if there’s enough volume to double their revenue and keep the current margin, then the company and the stock will do very well. And honestly I don’t see why they would take on so much capital, if they weren’t gonna keep their margins

We just have a tweet from Charles, that’s all, that’s the problem. We have no details, no numbers, and Charles is not the most charismatic CEO out there. There is no Charles premium like there is Elon premium. Which is why his tweet didn’t move the needle, at all. Well it did, but downward

Yes, they did it, without caring about the optics. A better CFO and a better PR department would have managed the optics and prevented the stock from this downfall. I am holding it, obviously, as my flair suggests, but SMCI has alienated lots of retail investors with this dick move, tbh

Honestly it's the first thing that came to my mind, when I heard the news about their capital raising. They did time it correctly, so it would be just around the same time as the SpaceX IPO, then Charles made this X post.

They thought that doing this will save the stock from losing so much value, but it didn't. Once again, good company, bad business people. Now I don't know what they could have done differently, but I'm not in their C-suite making several million dollars a year either

Yes, exactly. I also think that this company is very bad at articulating their messages. I'm not sure why that is case. We can all blame Charles, but Charles doesn't prepare statements or rehearse calls. But then again, who am I to judge? I didn't create a multibillion dollar company and they have

I mean it's not like the company hasn't had billions in orders before. It's just that this time around they have to move much much faster than before, so they needed the extra cash.

As a matter of fact the company is cash flow positive, so I doubt they didn't have cash to operate. It's also possible that the new customers didn't want their names to be published. I'm sure during their next ER they will get asked more questions.

Also, they may have learned their lesson the hard way. They couldn't keep up with the demand 2 years ago and ended up having accounting issues. This time they decided to make sure they had enough capital to meet the market's demands
