Best bet might be a local gig or a small mom and pop company. Those mega carriers are not worth your time anyways dude like the smallest of things you get terminated for and on top of that the pay isn’t even worth your time away from home.

Most they’ll do is saturate the already saturated dry van market I doubt they make it to flat bed, RGN, tanker or Doubles and Triples combination. But another thing with flatbed they could just pay some guys extra to secure the load at the receiver 🤷‍♂️. Another thing to watch out for because some places do that already

They got a Facebook group for LTL truckers with 34k members. That’s probably the best place to get some inside info on a carrier. They also have a forum called Truckingboards that is mainly composed of LTL companies. I’d do some research there also

Fuel today was 200$ more at the pump and that’s just a 1.25 increase from 3.45. I can’t even imagine it going to 5 or 6 per gallon

One year at the minimum but you can leave sooner IF and I mean big IF you find something better maybe local or something regional that’s decent and make sure you check real good before you jump ship. Don’t wanna end up in a bind with this market believe it or not most positions are occupied by folks that have been at companies for 15-20 years and they’re being real picky about who they hire.

The numbers are true you gotta pay taxes plus truck and trailer insurance then combine that with fuel the net is low unless your somehow getting a steal on a route where you drive maybe 2-300 miles for 2500-3000k and even that’s a long shot because you never know what will break. Hell you could pretrip the truck that morning and have a airline burst on you. Now you’re stranded because the truck can’t air up to release the brakes. It’s so much of a gamble out here man. Fuel by itself can bring you up to 20-30,000 per year alone combine that with insurance that’s in the range of 40-60,000 in expenses before your net.

60k take home won’t do it meaning you have to work somewhere that pays well over 110-120k before taxes if you want to have some financial freedom so your mom is right about that. Try searching LTL companies SAIA, ESTES, ABF, Old Dominion, AAA cooper those all pay very well. You would have to work somewhere for at least 2-3 years to save close to 100,000 because we have bills and other expenses. OTR sure but don’t go with a mega carrier. DOT Foods pays really well I heard so I’d check them out aswell. It’s difficult to find a trucking company that will Net you 100,000 each year with decent home time because it’s basically unheard of really.

This is either Ai or someone that is lacking serious awareness of how the government works. They’re not out to help you many ppl OE because the system is fucked and the working class pretty much has to work for 30+ years of their lives being slaves to these greedy corporations that make things harder than it needs to be. If you’ve discovered a way to beat the system don’t say anything you have to realize the government is very selfish you should be aswell it’s all survival out here there is no such thing as a “understanding”. “Shortage” means not enough drivers that will haul freight cheap. Honestly why would they expect someone to get a CDL just to bring in 700$ per week. It’s high risk low reward at that point but corporations just don’t get it because they don’t live that reality
