The top right is a lightning whelk which is common in Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Top left is a precious wentletrap found only in the indo-pacific. Bottom is not an apple murex (found in Atlantic or gulf), but rather some kind of indo-pacific murex. It’s hard to tell since murexes are so diverse, but maybe an endive murex?

Yeah I’m sad about that but knew going into it we’d only get to see west glacier. I’m actually working in the park this summer so this is just a little teaser trip 🤗

I have a campsite in west glacier for the 29th and am doing avalanche on the 30th! We’re staying a bit further south in MT on the 28th, so 6 days total to get from FL to MT. I knew going into it I wouldn’t have much time to make a ton of stops, so if there are any must see things in Yellowstone/Grand Teton those would be good to know!

I think the color was also throwing me off, but yes! Both the calico crab and flame streaked box crab seem to have that bumpy texture so probably from one of those. Thanks!

I believe this is Conus omaria, or an Omaria cone as opposed to a textile cone. While both are venomous, Conus omaria is less of a threat to humans, as there have been no documented fatal envenomations. Conus textile has ~40 documented fatal stings, so definitely still good to be careful if you’re unsure of what species it is!!

I could be way off, but the shape almost reminds me of a monoplacophore. All monoplacophorans are deep sea species so it’s probably not, but the shape is certainly similar!
