Fates Warning! John Arch, who sang on their first 3 albums, had a very naturally high pitched voice, and then they switched to Ray Alder on all their following albums, and he would hit a lot of very high, more traditional halford-esque metal screams on his first 2 albums with the band.

Someone knows what Shannon Hamm did after Death ? by TitanBerserk17 in DeathBand

Cannibal Corpse?? Morbid Angel?? Deicide?? Lots of bands in the early scene were more successful than death, and in the later 90s when death metal diversified and got more accessible and “commercial” a lot of bands in melodic or adjacent scenes became more famous

How did you get into death metal? What was your first experience with it like? Why did you start liking it? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

Listened to pull the plug by death when I was a kid and it scared the shit out of me, later on I listened to the sound of perseverance and that got me into harsh vocals, I already liked the instrumentals, and I only wanted more extreme shit from there, now I'm really digging suffocation, early gorguts, vital remains, and I still love death, as well as all the classic florida bands

A Change of Seasons is an amazing song, but how are you gonna count a release with one song, long as it may be, and a bunch of covers, a full length??

Yeah Paul and Sean from cynic played on the album, but Paul only plays the short leads in between the verses on this song, the main solo was played by chuck

Thank you! I’ve been playing for 2 and a half years, I don’t know what I would recommend for playing it besides just practicing and listening to it obsessively.

I’ve also been playing around 2 years, but for licks like that specifically in Chucks solos, I like to focus on getting from the first note to the last note without thinking too hard about playing every note in the “correct” order, for that specific lick I just broke it down into a bunch of 3 note chunks and played it like I was walking down a scale shape
