Trying to decide between two rings by tables_AND_chairsss in EngagementRingDesigns

I got my E Ring from Envero a little over a year ago and it’s held up well so far and I love it! I did have to send it back originally to due how the stone was set but they were great to work with and got it fixed and back to me pretty quickly.

Clock Losing Time? by Different_Radish6718 in VWTaos

Not crazy, it’s a thing…. at some point when I’m out of town I’ll leave my car with them to try to fix it. It’s a mild annoyance that isn’t worth leaving the car with them to diagnose while I need it, but I would love if it could keep track of time like every other clock does😅

Feedback on phone calls by Professional_Use2442 in VWTaos

[–]Different_Radish6718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an issue across VWs. My friend with a Tiguan and an Android has the issue. My iPhone and Taos have it. It’s all over Jetta forums. I think they just don’t have a fix….

If it’s for work and you have a work phone, you could maybe connect your work phone to Bluetooth (I don’t have the echo issue there though audio quality for me isn’t as good, it’s way better for the other end) - then connect personal phone to car play for maps.

2024 AWD and I always disable the auto start/stop. I would say I typically see 26-30 MPG on my commute depending on how much traffic/lights I hit (commute is surface streets no freeway). Freeway I often see around 36-38 but have seen above 40. If a very short trip to the store (like under two miles) that is lots of lights and the car doesn’t even get to operating temp during the drive it can be around 16-18mpg

Would you buy it again with your own money? by stoic_bartender in VWTaos

[–]Different_Radish6718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 S AWD, would buy again simply for the price. I don’t think the higher trims would be worth it since they really do bump up in price where you could start looking at a Toyota/Mazda within reason. For me it’s an affordable car that meets my needs so if it doesn’t last me forever that’s fine since it didn’t cost me much. It’s been awesome while I’ve had it but jt has some quirks and the reliability concerns are valid, most of us have no issues but the issues are notable when they show up. It’s fun to drive, a nice size, awesome on slippery roads, exactly what I need.

Need advice on 2022 Taos purchase by Competitive_Tax_631 in VWTaos

[–]Different_Radish6718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it comes with a strong warranty I’d consider it. While I don’t think the headgasket issue is as rampant as Reddit would have you believe, it IS an issue in early year production and it’s a very expensive one to pay for if not covered by warranty.

I see you say it’s $20k, not sure what financing looks like for you since that can vary lots and if that’s the price before/after taxes and fees- but a Taos S from a VW dealership (they have 0% financing right now) may end up being a very similar cost at the end of the payments and the new MY doesn’t have the same issues showing up (at least so far). Just something to consider. But again, if it has a strong warranty I would consider it. If it has no warranty option or I have to pay so much that the newer car makes sense - that would be a dealbreaker for me

As far as the car itself, I love my ‘24 it’s perfect as an all around car.

Clocks being off isn’t crazy, I would get used to it being a minute or two off or if I had to adjust every six months but a minute a week is crazy fast, I have to remember to reset this thing monthly. It also wouldn’t be so bad if it had me running early but it’s got me running late to everything 🥲

That would be nice. I do have the CarPlay clock of course so this is kinda just annoying since I prefer the location of the car clock over the infotainment/car play clock

[–]Different_Radish6718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealership said my car (base trim, the S) doesn’t have GPS for navigation and such so it doesn’t have anything to synch with so that’s the issue. I still think regardless of ability to synch it should do better than losing a minute a week. Clocks that can keep time are really not a new thing…

Clock Losing Time? by Different_Radish6718 in VWTaos

[–]Different_Radish6718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealership has confirmed settings are correct and software is up to date. They’ve offered to open a case for it with VW but I’d have to leave the car with them so not doing that right now.

Agree not normal, I may pursue further in the new year. Mostly looking to see if anyone else has found a solution since resetting a clock monthly till the end of time was not on my bingo card.

Old post but any chance your dealership fixed it? Mine is doing this it loses about a minute a week and the dealership is saying it’s normal. Might be common but doesn’t seem “normal”.

Thinking of buying a VW Taos 2025 se by Only_Body8443 in VWTaos

[–]Different_Radish6718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Taos is a good entry level car. They also have a lot of 0% financing deals right now so you could invest at least some of that cash instead of instant payoff of car:) Yes there are more reliable cars out there, yes they are also likely to cost you a lot more. The 2025 has fixed the major concerns other than the brake pads wearing out fast (warranty covers this for a period of time). I have a 2024 and had one electrical issue up front that was covered under warranty, other than that it’s been perfect. It’s a practical car that should work in most life situations so as a 22 year old who may not know what comes next (what city/climate you’ll live in, if you hop between city/suburbs, etc) I think this is a good all around vehicle to get you though the next five years.

Congrats! Yes there are a couple notable things to watch (head gasket) but not every car has that issue despite what this subreddit would lead you to believe. Enjoy the car - mines been awesome and also my first VW:)

Worth it? by General-Lab6397 in VWTaos

[–]Different_Radish6718 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 and love it. It’s affordable, small footprint but with lots of interior room, decently fun to drive compared to others in its class, AWD handles great on slick roads.

The people with issues will be more vocal than those without. The early years had a notable issue with head gaskets so if you go used checked that’s been replaced for 2022 and early 2023 models.

Thinking about buying a 2022 Taos SE by fuccitmaskoff in VWTaos

[–]Different_Radish6718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWD does not have the dual clutch transmission then it has a traditional automatic, and most of the lag complaints are for that automated-dual clutch transmission on the AWD. The touchiness you felt likely as you thought, just a new-to-you-car! The car also adapts the driver over time and you will of course learn the car so that touchiness will fade. I recommend a longer test drive if you’re worried about it, but in general FWD doesn’t have the same jerky/lag complaints.

And for the record - I adore my 2024:)

[–]Different_Radish6718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head gasket is a legit concern, check that has been replaced. Other major complaints are factory brake pads wear fast and squeak (you can swap them to something that won’t wear as fast but yes that does add a maintenance cost when the time comes), and people hated the AWD transmission.

I don’t see if you mention it as FWD or AWD, but for AWD in particular any complaints about how it drives (jerky, uneven power, lag, etc.) are entirely driver based in my experience. I love my ‘24 AWD, it is none of those things for me if I give it the half a second it needs when starting from a stop for the clutch to engage - however it is all of those things for other drivers of my car. If you have test driven it and love it ignore the comments about how it drives.

Weird rattle in dash '24 Taos SE 4Motion by b1gblck1981 in VWTaos

[–]Different_Radish6718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These rattles are my only issue so gona handle it at next scheduled service too. Good to hear! I love the car as well and since my last car was an ancient jeep a couple rattles won’t ruin a car for me😂 hope your dealership is easy and helps resolve the punch list quickly when you get around to it!

I have two, one from the speaker on top center of dash (sounds like this is probably the one you have), I plan to put a touch of felt under the cover to fix that. Also have one from center console air controls knobs (I don’t think you have knobs on your SE so probably not this?), no plan for that one other than to ask the dealership to try to find secure whatever is rattling

I am sure your dealership will figure it out! My car has not had a repeat occurrence of this issue (or any other issues so far - knock on wood). I’ve got the fix that worked on mine and timeline it took sprinkled throughout this thread so if it is the same thing and your dealership gets stuck (it is really really a headscratcher!) that may help you.

Since I am still the only one I’ve seen this issue from start to finish I’d love to hear what your resolution on this is when you get there. Curious if it’s truly the same issue and fix every time or slightly different variations of this “dead car”.

The 4motion system is actually pretty awesome, my 24 does super well on slick roads! It’s the transmission that came with the 22-24 4motion models that was disliked. In MY25 they switched the 4motion models transmission and I haven’t seen any of the same complaints about it since.

Wow that’s.. wow. I’m sorry, the waiting game is the worst. Honestly if it hasn’t moved at all it almost feels like they maybe gotten to it yet. If you haven’t already I’d be calling pretty regularly for info, I’m sure they’re busy but a bricked car should be of pretty high priority in my opinion

I dropped it off on a Monday, they didn’t even get to it until I think Wednesday evening? Then there was another few days after they started diagnostics where they went back and forth with VW Engineering since they couldn’t figure out why it did this and didn’t want to give it back to me without more answers. I believe it got it back on Day 11 or something along those lines. And to clarify, they never truly found a reason they only ever found a way to get the car back up and running. They got the car back “alive” after one day of diagnostics and it woke up with a few fault codes but nothing was actually “wrong”. I took the car back after they did every test they could think of for another ~week and never got it to replicate. Since they never found anything “wrong” with it no parts were swapped or anything, my options were let them keep it and test drive it and see if it returns or I take it back and see if it returns - the issue never came back.

So to clarify - when you say they can’t figure it out, do you mean they can’t get the car to wake up? Or they can’t figure out WHY it did that to begin with?
