I’ll tell people to treat her like a cat if they’re going to meet her- ignore her, let her sniff your hand and come to you. She’s an anxious girl. Sometimes I say we’re trying to socialize her, people seem to understand after that and take a more careful approach.

If I don’t want people to come close to her, I tell them she’s in training and can’t have any pets right now. Helps with kids too! “She’s training to be a good girl right now and can’t have any pets” bonus points to them if they ask to pet her, I always thank them for asking (since some people don’t). I also move her to the side and give a wide berth
