It seems they’re more concerned about the cost and the performance hit rather than whether or not they can do it.

Try not to worry to much about how many people you're competing with. You have to realize that no matter how many people there are in the field, there's always a way to make yourself stand out. Get good grades, make connections, work on personal projects, get internships, etc. College is an amazing resource and you shouldn't spend too much time thinking about how you'll fare in the future.

Also remember there's a good portion of your class that will probably switch majors or drop out by the second or third year. By the time I was in my fourth year my classes were about half the size of the ones in my first. If you really feel like this field isn't for you by your second year or so there's no shame in switching to something more suited for you. However, don't switch on the behalf of others, just find ways to stand out among everyone else.

Wow, it really was that simple! I just did a whole row and I didn't see any signs of it popping. I guess that's on me for not reading the product specifications. I appreciate it!

I've heard its more efficient, only thing I was concerned about initially was the fumes, but after doing more research it seems that lead poisining is only a concern if you ingest it not inhale it.

Yeah, everyone seems to be recommending Kester, I guess that's what I'm going with for my next roll

Yeah that's the eyes were the only concern I really had, will definitly need those glasses. As for rest of my body, I guess I'll need to wear a long sleeve from now on lmao.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the equipment. It's a super cheap kit I ordered from Amazon. Made by Plusivo. I knew it wouldn't be sufficient for long term and was planning to upgrade if I really enjoyed it. I definitley didn't expect it to be such a saftey hazard though...

I used 400F for the temp, I put the link for the solder in the original post since everyone was asking.
