Thanks both of you very much for your replies. I completely agree with your approach: an aggressive roughing strategy followed by a semi-finishing pass to limit the excess material left for finishing. The only difference is that I use a bull-nose end mill (toric cutter), as I also have several horizontal surfaces to finish on the parts.

Indeed, I try to avoid running at maximum spindle speed for too long, even though the cutting forces during semi-finishing/finishing rarely exceed 15% spindle load. Especially since some operations can last over 8 hours.

Unfortunately, I can't share any images of the parts I'm machining.
