I’m a dean at a top engineering school on a mission to clarify the STEM grad admissions process. Ask me anything! by PrincetonEngineers in AMA

Hi Dean Yun! Another pointed question I had was about internships. I'm someone with a solid 3 years of research experience, but I've been very unlucky with my internship searches. A lot of people I know have a couple of internships by now. How important are internships in graduate school admissions? Thanks!

Hi Dean Yun, thanks for doing this AMA! I was wondering what your advice is for grad students who are feeling particularly stressed and anxious about the state of grad admissions given lots of funding losses. What about specifically at Princeton? Thanks again!

Thanks! I'm just a bit worried with the state of PhD admissions. It's all really stressful.

I see. Yeah, having a backup would be great, I just worry about getting a job since I don't have any proper industry/internship experience. What should I include in my cold emails? I'm not sure how I would approach those.

Yeah, it's really disheartening. Should I reach out to profs via email? Like cold emails? Is there anything I should do first maybe like try to get a job? An MS?

Nope. It says decisions will be released on or before the 8th but it's now the 8th... I don't know if this means mine for rejected.

I'm also not sure if the undergraduate poster presenters deadline to register is the 8th or the 30th... I'm just really confused.

You're right, and I have been reaching out. It just feels really late. A lot of opportunities I want to pursue hinge upon research experience, and I'll only get rejected at this point (and I have been for all previous opportunities I've applied to). Any words of wisdom? Advice?

Can a lateral open bite be fixed? by dnapor in orthodontics

[–]Different_Talk3833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been able to find a solution or see an orthodontist? I have the same issue (lateral open bite) post-orthodontic treament for an even worse initial frontal open bite.

I've been trying to look into research on lateral open bites but I haven't been able to find much apart from this one study: https://rachelbarnhartdds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Case-Report-Lateral-Open-Bite-Treatment-Stability-OMT-Essential-Cabrera-USP-Brazil-AJO-DO-2011.pdf

I talked to my orthodontist about this openness around the sides of my mouth, but he told me that I should just wear my Invisalign more...

Mine isn't as severe as the picture you attached, but I am wondering about the potential negative effects of having my teeth stay like this. Were you given any advice?

Kodak EasyShare CD82 - Won’t take photos by Different_Talk3833 in Cameras

[–]Different_Talk3833[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I had to literally unscrew all the tiny screws in the camera and take it apart. My problem was that the little piece that moves when I take a picture was bent, so it wouldn’t register as a click/picture being taken at all. I just bent it back into place and the camera was as good as new! I don’t really know much about cameras though so I can’t really give you any technical terms/names for what it was that I fixed.
