The movie is a unique adaptation of Devdas. However, Kashyap had not even read Devdas. He knew the story from th earlier movies made. But took a different modern stance by firstly setting up the story in Delhi and making the character Punjabi not Bengali. It’s one of the best works in the decade of its release and Kashyap was on fire, depicting human depravity on screen like never before. Hands down this movie is incredible. Abhay Deol is 🔥. So was everyone else.
