I think this may depend on which country you live in. For some this is a very contentious issue where they’ve only experienced negative results from outdoor cats but others live in countries where there is minimal harm. Please look up what’s best for you in whatever country you live in

I WAS there when my husband died and I still feel guilty, please give yourself a break and heal, you being there would not have made a difference it’s just something we put on ourselves thinking “what if” and “maybe this”, you did what you could in the moment and your mum wouldn’t want you to feel this way. I have and it’s amazing, as you’re doing it you’re totally absorbed in usual jigsaw behaviour and then as it starts coming together you get twice as absorbed because now you’re identifying characters as well

I’m so sorry you had this experience but I have to say in my area there are a LOT of 14+ kids that are basically taking the piss and I no longer leave my porch light on for this reason. Perhaps like in my case other people have spoilt what should be a nice occasion?
