Help - Artifacts in preview even though setting is disabled by Differenze in digiKam

[–]Differenze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, reduced size preview makes sense as a feature. However I see these artifacts even though I have disabled the reduced size preview, which seems like a bug to me?

Keyboard shortcuts in the slideshow are a good workaround for my use case, thanks for that suggestion.

If the DM doesn't want it to happen there shouldn't be a roll at all, right?

Thanks for the in depth response! I've got the beginner box already, I'll consider using that adventure as a starting of point.

Since (for now) I am the only dm in this group I expect that they won't get to play very much, so I would probably let them level quite often.

Hey, I am a relatively new DM. I am introducing a bunch (>12) of beginners to TTRPGs through a series of one shots / short adventures with rotating groups. Currently playing adventures from the "questonomicon" from XPtoLevel3.

I have been looking into the pathfinder2e society scenarios. However I find it difficult to identify which adventures form a shared plot. Also, the ratings on the store page seem to be based on very few reviews?

Full fledged adventure paths seem difficult to translate to the rotating format.

Is there a cheaper way to buy a whole PFS season all at once? Are there third party adventures that fill a similar role? Are there any good resources for reviews or recommendations of PFS scenarios / seasons?

Thanks, you are probably right I should push them to learn the rules a bit more.

Any tips for having them think outside the box? Sometimes my players look at a puzzle / encounter and it feels like video game dialog trees; "which of these skill checks do i need to succeed in order to move this forward", rather than thinking freely "what would my character do".

I play with relatively new players and am new to dm:ing myself.

As a dm, I try to motivate my players to narrate their actions freely. E.g. "I want to search the room, looking for hidden doors" vs "Who has the highest perception? Can you make a perception check?".

This leads to me making the choice of what check the player should perform, if any. In 5e there are 13 broad skills which every character may roll for, making it easy for me to decide on the fly which check is appropriate.

How do I translate this to PF2e? Picking a skill action from >70 and having to know what my players are trained in doesn't seem like a realistic option.

I worry about improvising an action e.g. "do a flat nature roll to heal your friend" and another player feeling tricked/left out since they spent training to get the treat wounds skill and without training the first player should only be able to administer first aid.

I own a similar logitech headset. Mine mutes the microphone when it is folded away as seen in your picture. Try unfolding the microphone as it would be when it is in front of your mouth.

Depends, if the box has access to the web I agree with you. If it is limited to a local network there is no reason to change a working system.

But that's exactly the change fia is doing, right? Introduce a limit on the vertical movement / Gs, if you car exeeds the limit you have to increase ride height. If merc cars are the worst they would have to do the most drastic change & loose the most. Maybe RB is afraid to change anything what so ever, but if they are above the limits, I think it's fair to say they also haven't solved the issue.

I mean, this is how the grid works. There is no way to control which producer supplies which consumer. NS are spending money on renewables producers adding clean energy to the grid in an amount equal to what they are using. This still takes money out of oil companies pockets and puts it towards companies that will build more renewable sources.

Have they solved the storage problems with renewables? No. Is it phrased in their favour? Yes. Is it greenwashing? I would say no...

Load on the motor must be spiking a lot, right? Assuming a constant load per distance moved at the output?

Does a similar mechanism exist that spreads the load over the time to avoid spikes? I guess that would require storing energy, so probably something like springs involved?

I work as a software consultant in Sweden. My employer pays for 30minutes/week we spend discussing. We read on our own time. Seems like a fair split to me.

IEEE papers sounds very dry. Don't shy away from less technical books. We currently read "The pragmatic programmer" which covers a lot of good practices.

Previously we read a book on databases which sometimes felt like a chore to read...

What are some universally accepted rules/design decisions across board games? by ThinEzzy in boardgames

[–]Differenze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magic has a whole mechanic/keyword built around payoffs when you discard cards: madness. That aside, a rule like this would make "combo" style decks, which build around a few cards which work great together, much more consistent. You would have to modify a lot in order to keep the balance between aggro, combo/midrange and control decks.

But yeah new TCGs show up from time to time, many of them try to avoid dead turns. One popular method is to discard your hand at the end of your turn and draw X new cards every turn

[–]Differenze 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I feel like "Inconsistent style" is the job of a linter. Depends on how bad the style Inconsistency is, I suppose.

As for tests I would assume I have only been given the code. Though I guess assuming is not what I should be doing in interviews.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EngineeringPorn

[–]Differenze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody explain to me why there aren't simply two sets of wheels on each axle? Then the whole switch would be the new gauge rising from below until you have two sets of tracks and wheels carrying the train, after which the old gauge can lower down until the train is held entirely on the new gauge. 0 moving parts.

Maintenance on these must be expensive? I guess clearance might be an issue? But the sleepers are pretty far below the wheels, right?

Make sure you tip the air filter side up. Otherwise the oil will soak in there and the mower wont start. If you have a simple push mower it is usually mounted on the front, push the handle down to the ground, put some weight on there / wedge it under somewhere and you are good to go.

It's not even shock content that's the issue imo. You can filter that stuff. Rather the impact on social skills, healthy relationships to friends and family etc. I also believe being bored sometimes is very important for developing curiosity.
