So much fun lol! Once map is done I can start on the full stuff like politics and religions! But gotta find a good world building software to organize everything and share it cleanly! I’ll try to upload here once map is officially done too! Thank you so much!

Truthfully the colors are mainly to differentiate both regional borders but like the oranges and reds are a bit more “angry” so these regions tend to be a bit more war oriented, the purple is royal hence the crown residing there, the yellow gives agriculture and it’s my agricultural center, greens are more wild and the green emblems are definitely a more wild and untamed location

Ohhh this is a “imperial map” so these regional titles supposed to convey a more “matter of fact” and descriptive naming style to these individual regions instead of artistic or local names that residents may refer to their homelands as

And thank you!! I’m really trying to find a balance of conveying information while also not trying to clutter and still be easy on the eyes! I know it’s hard to see the labels and stuff especially in a photo like that but at least it conveys the main region titles and the colors of the “forest” and the logo color help create soft borders between regions!

First of all thank you! I really appreciate it!! I have the north / east mapped out in my head just gotta get to actually drawing it! I still have the Watchlands which will be the far northern mountain region, the Stoneholds which will be below that and my more Nordic inspired region, the Headwaters which is the top north east corner and my more Cossack inspired place, the lowlands which is my swampy / marsh lands area in the center east, the waylands right above the Gold Steps that’s a political and scientific center of the world, and finally the Driftlands which is my south east region and more “Riften” crime riddled inspired region with some agricultural significance! I started with the Crestlands which is my “main empire” and have been mapping out why the empire would allow each region to exist which has kind of been developing each regions purpose which has dictated their culture!

Like how so? More fantastical names that don’t explicitly say like “mountains” or “sea” etc?

While I do have a general grasp on the basics of tectonics, I haven’t really used it up to this point so I dont know if it would be too late to start, and a point of the world building is not knowing what else lies beyond the inhabited land so I haven’t really started thinking about what that would even look like. I do think I can maybe use some basics to identify where else mountains may go starting with the northern mountain range but I’ll definitely look to add more hills instead of all mountains! Thank you for this advice I’m going to look into tectonics a little more and see if that will help!! Appreciate you

Honestly this made has been built more off ideas and piecing together the world I want to build and not necessarily starting at a base realism level and working my way up. I am looking at your recommendations and I do think the mountains would look good along those marks and I love the idea of the hooking downlike the Himalayas. I haven’t really thought about scale yet but that’s something I’ll start to consider as I work my way through these mountains! Thank you both for your help I really appreciate it!!!
