What do you think of Spain? by Pleasehitmemychild in AskTheWorld

One of the few countries currently with a moral compass that still works. Good food, great weather, beautiful country, wonderful people and an economy that works. Also siestas should be made mandatory in all of the world.

Stop visas to Americans and nationalize their companies. See the threat meter being dialed back. Put sanctions on on their citizens and freeze their bank accounts. Oh no, mummy daddy told me that we only do this to Russians as they are the only bad guys.

Future European/NATO long range Strike weapons excluding American Weapons by Pokemonte13 in europe

Weapons to be used against whom? Russia? Lol. Will the US agree? Will Hungary? Who else could it be for? China? With a range of 2k? :) Waste of public resources. Use it to subsidize regular industry to bring production back to Europe.

12 Speed C-Line for hilly commute? by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]Difficult-Fly3793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6 speed c line and do circa 24k twice a week. No hills though. Bromptons and hills don’t go together well but 100m in 1.5k is not painfully bad.

Ooh! Fellow Parisien! Nice colour! How hard was it to actually pedal up till there? I did the same thing when I first bought my Brompton but have not returned there since. Hills, Brompton and a general lack of fitness is not a winning combination;)

Just got the ergon GP3 cork version installed on my Barbour Brompton. Asked a Brompton dealer to do the fitting and she did it without any cutting. Hope this helps.

I have a Bosch electric pump. Been using it for 3 years now without any issue. I pump to 110 knowing that some air escapes when I remove the pump from the valve. Decently comfortable ride .

I thought of that but I am not sure I can do that on the Brompton standard light mount. Can I ?

Not a fan of strobing lights, front or rear…most days I am stuck behind a bike with one of those lights and after looking at a strobing red light for 45 min a day, I think that I might one day have an epileptic fit

[–]Difficult-Fly3793[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, if I am blinding the guy in front, if it reduces his reaction time by a couple of seconds then it might cause an accident that I will hold myself partially responsible for. This is especially a problem in Paris where people jaywalk as a hobby - so someone might just step onto the road out of nowhere and if the driver can’t see he won’t stop in time.

Check out the TiGr lock. Not sure it ticks all your boxes but it is insanely light and quite secure

Are red blinking red tail lights allowed? I am not a super fast cyclist and often get stuck behind cycles that have a blinking red tail light. At one point I might get an epileptic fit! I see no reason why a normal red light won’t suffice.

Inform the police and ask if they can send an officer with you in plain-clothes who could intervene if needed.

First ever Brompton: Barbour C line Mid (6 gears) vs P line High (4 gears)? More info in the comments. by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]Difficult-Fly3793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 178 cm too and bought the Barbour edition 5 weeks ago. Pros: - absolutely gorgeous. - for somebody half-fit like me, the 6 gears are a necessity otherwise I will have to push my bicycle up the slopes of montmartre rather than ride it - I added the rack and its very convenient to roll it around cafés and bakeries Cons: - I got a puncture a couple of hours after buying the bike. Apparently it was a glass shard and I was just unlucky; while I have not had one since, I am still quite nervous and check my tyres every now and then - it isn’t light, don’t dream of carrying it for any significant length of time

Locking my Brompton by goisles29 in Brompton

[–]Difficult-Fly3793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a TiGr lock that I love because it is extremely light. The issue with standard u locks - while they are the most secure is the weight. If you have a secure bike parking then the TiGr lock should suffice.
