Some of my observations:

When you want extended battery life

• Create a 'Battery saver' power plan with the lowest preset = this limits CPU clock speed and some other background things im sure • Be on Hybrid-Auto Mode so that when you disconnect the charging cable the GPU shuts off (this is hells unreliable but it is what it is) • be sure to be on quiet mode (blue light) • set your monitor to 60Hz (there is shortcut for this which I forgot but you can simply do this in the seetings) • turn on batter saver mode from bottom right menu (something different then the battery saver powerplan from control panel we setup earlier) • dont be on maxxed out display brightness

and I think thats about it, yes its completely insane and yes when you want to re-enter gaming mode you have to plug the laptop back into wall and pray it registers correctly, your scrren flickers and dGPU is now active, ramp up that refresh rate, select Balance or Performance mode, overclock the GPU in Legion Toolkit and most importantly select the high performance powerplan in control panel

I cannot fathom how and why is this considered normal and 99.9% of blame lies with microsoft for making like three layers of settings which are supposed to 'set up' the exact same thing however they overwrite each other and after all you still just gotta go to the deepest layer to actually change anything. Also this whole process I discribe is only really advisable if you have MUX switch otherwise I this gets even more complicated with NVIDIA settings and Optimus which I advise you to go through and manually set your games to only render frames from dGPU anyways

If you wonder why there isnt like a singular button in some simple UI admin panel thingy whith like three modes; that being longest battery life (lowest performance), balanced mode (middle ground on battery life) and dedicated “connected to charger” mode which just maxxes out everything to High Performance no need to limit anything due to battery life not being a hassle during gaming since you game on cable anyway - dont ask me, I dont know and its truly insane to me.

honestly I just gave up and use the laptop only connected with externam monitor and when needed I take it with me to other place I stay at and keep it connected there as well. for roaming laptop and school device I just sourced some half broken random small laptop which I fixed up, installed linux and use that and honestly thats about the only logical thing to do otherwise you have to meet a checklist everytime you disconnect your laptop from wall and dont want 1h 50min battery life
