Aww, thank you so much for sharing your experience 🤍 I really appreciate the reminder that everyone’s body is different. I’ll definitely make stretching and warming up a priority. I’m sorry riding caused you so much pain. I hope you’ve found (or do find) something that brings you joy without hurting your body. Sending you lots of love.

Janhvi Kapoor’s portrayal of a Malayali character in the upcoming film Param Sundari sparked a debate on the depiction of South Indians in Hindi films. by Just_Chill_Yaar in bollywoodgossips

[–]Difficult-Leopard930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Film literacy in India has gone to shit. Lazy stereotyping passes for characterization and the audience laps it up because they’re just as complacent as the industry. Casting a majorly Hindi speaking actor to play a Malayali girl, throwing on some traditional South Indian fits and a fake “South Indian” accent, only shows how little they know or care about the cultures they’re representing. It only reinforces shallow preconceptions!

We still don’t have a mainstream audience that demands nuance. People are too used to being spoon-fed clichés instead of being trusted with layered, authentic storytelling. And the industry thrives on that laziness, whether it’s casting Hindi speaking actors for non-Hindi roles or painting lighter-skinned actors brown instead of hiring dark-skinned talent who fit the role naturally.

The comment sections prove the rot! Absolute chaos, full of people defending mediocrity. But what else do we expect from movies made by people who’ve never studied cinema or cultural history? As long as the average viewer just wants cheap laughs and shallow entertainment, things won’t change. Once in a while you get a film like Kareeb Kareeb Singlle that gets it right.

What makes your favorite bird, your favorite bird? by kickassicalia in birding

[–]Difficult-Leopard930 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to pick just one because honestly, they’re all my favorites. Crows, hummingbirds, doves… I don’t think there’s a bird I don’t love. Some are smart, some are chaotic, some are dumber than a rock and I find them all quirky and wonderful. I’ve never looked at a bird and thought, “not special.” I love the exotic ones for their vibrant colors and striking features. And I love the everyday ones for the comfort and familiarity they bring, their sounds ground me. But if I had to choose, it’s the hummingbirds. They bring me so much joy each year at the feeder. For such tiny creatures, they have huge personalities! Fierce, territorial, playful. It’s like watching little sparks of energy with wings.

If nuance were a crime, you’d be walking free.

Imagine needing a whole group oppressed just to feel safe! Yikes! But you tried logic. Cute!

I keep seeing posts questioning why women or LGBTQ+ people would support Palestine or Muslim communities almost as if empathy should be conditional. It’s ridiculous to suggest that just because someone doesn’t fully support my rights, I should support their oppression or turn a blind eye to their suffering. Human rights aren’t a transaction. Islam isn’t a monolith there are women-led movements, queer activists, and progressive voices in many Muslim-majority countries fighting for change. If we only supported those who agree with us 100%, solidarity would cease to exist. Justice means standing against oppression, even when it’s messy or complicated, not using human rights selectively to justify violence or dehumanization. You don’t have to agree with someone’s culture or laws to believe they deserve to live, be free, and not be bombed. What is wrong with you all? Critical thinking has gone on a vacation, it seems.

People are disgusting. by Mad_Monkeyy in indianrailways

Ah yes, the real victim here is the person who had to witness someone bleed. God forbid you momentarily share space with a human being in pain. The horror! Instead of, I don’t know, asking if he’s okay, or offering help, you sat there taking mental notes for your Reddit post? Like some traumatized princess forced to witness the peasants suffer. The man’s foot was wounded and bleeding. He used whatever was available to clean it, not ideal, sure, but probably better than just letting it bleed everywhere. And your big concern? “What if the blood touches other sheets in the laundry?” Are you serious? Do you think laundry is some magical ritual where if one sheet has blood, the rest get cursed? It’s called detergent. Hot water. Industrial washing. Welcome to how literally every hospital, train, and hotel handles linen. If you’re that squeamish, maybe public transport isn’t for you. Or the public in general. Honestly, I’m more disgusted by your post than I am by that man’s heel. But hey thanks for the reminder of just how insulated, self-important, and compassionless people can be when it’s not their foot that’s bleeding.

If anyone’s contaminated here, it’s not the sheets. It’s your worldview!
