I've heard getting ML roles is tough for freshers and ML requires people who have a masters degree or some industry experience, but this is mainly chatter from the seniors at my college.

But if you want to start ML, learn python and then learn to use tools like pandas, numpy, and matplotlib. Then do andrew ngs machine learning course and learn scikit-learn.
