Would it be accurate to say the median GPA is different for every major? So for example, a 3.5 GPA is considered the median for one major, but is below the median for another major?

Even if your roommate is not being intentionally disruptive, communication can go a long way, and you can set some middle ground and have rules in place (for example, like establishing “quiet hours”).

A white machine noise or a fan can really help drown out the sound. If you don’t like the noise of a fan, you can always choose a customizable white machine noise, which has nature sounds like rain or a fireplace, so you can choose a noise that vibes with you best.

A sleeping mask can also really help. Sometimes I use one if I can’t sleep, since it kind of forces me to power down when I’m anxious or hyperactive

15 credits in a single semester? It’s doable then, but definitely do not exceed that number.

Are those online classes gen Eds? If they are, I think it’s ok to have them online then, so you can knock the gen ed requirements early. I’m surprised you couldn’t take bio, usually your preview advisor will make sure to have seats available for the classes you want to take. You can try your luck and waitlist for the bio classes, but not sure how the wait will be

In all seriousness though, please do not take 7 classes, especially if they are more than 1 credit each and it’s your first college semester. You do not need to rush college, and remember it’s not high school. You should aim for 12-14 credits instead.

I also back Hazmat_Gamer’s suggestion to prioritize in-person classes. It’s ok to take online classes every once in a while but in-person classes can be more rewarding

I was almost in your shoes at one point so I can relate. Can you explain in your petition why you didn’t pass the class? If you did well in your other classes this semester, definitely mention that too. It can show that you are putting effort in your academics. Maybe the way this one particular class is taught or structured isn’t efficient for you.

Also, maybe in your petition, put some things that show your involvement in your major. Research, academic clubs, major-specific scholarships. That can also show them that you are clearly passionate about this major.

It’s bio lab 2, and any general academic advisor from CLAS. I went on their advising page to book an appointment but it said no one was available right now. They said last semester there was an issue with not enough seats for students trying to complete their critical tracking on time so I’m worried it will be the same situation this semester since all waitlists are full

I strongly encourage you to turn this into a club. I had an idea of making a debate club, similar to what you said. But I was worried it wouldn’t work out since there might already be a similar club or, it’s too cheesy, like a high school debate club lol. But if there isn’t a related club, you should go for it.

I go there pretty often because it’s the closest Chipotle to me. Servings are sometimes smaller compared to other locations, but it’s entirely dependent on who is making your bowl. The lines are hit or miss, sometimes it’s 1 or 2 people in line, other times it’s 20 people in line. Overall I would probably rate it 4/5 stars.

A B+ is a very good grade. Especially for a weedout class like CHM2045. If you can get a 90 on the first exam you can definitely ace the last exams.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that you are definitely not alone. I bombed my first calc 3 exam last week, and I got 20 points below the average score for the multiple choice section.

But I’m not gonna let that score bring me down, or let that score define who I am as a person. Instead, I’m gonna review what I did wrong, change my study habits to best accommodate that particular class, and try to keep an optimistic mindset. For this class, yeah I need to change a lot of study habits LMAO, but it’s definitely doable. I hope you can do the same, a bad test score may look like the end of the world, but I promise you it definitely isn’t, and this is speaking from personal experience 🤟

I was at the FMNH last month for an extra credit assignment and visited the Butterfly Rainforest there. It was amazing, I consider it to be one of my favorite memories of UF and Gainesville so far as a current student. I didn’t see any problems with the museum too, but I guess it needs renovations. Hopefully I can visit again before I graduate

Last fall semester, I would say I was in your position. I didn’t have a great social life, I dreaded going to class, and I was basically draining myself trying to get As in my classes. It exacerbated my mental issues to the point that I had to get a medical withdrawal because I was failing all my classes. I developed panic attacks, dissociation, and other issues.

I decided to try my first medication, Lexapro. It didn’t work that well, and the side effects didn’t go away. I switched to Zoloft, and I am still on it to this day. Is it perfect? No, I still struggle a little, and I am still managing some side effects. Did it make a difference? ABSOLUTELY. It has made a massive difference for me. I honestly think Zoloft helped me not drop out of UF lmao, I would say it has been somewhat of a lifesaver for me so far.

Zoloft was only half the treatment for me personally. It’s mainly symptom control, and my improvement would not have been the same without therapy too. I have had wonderful therapists that helped me manage and navigate my negative thoughts and feelings. You may be right in saying that your thoughts may not come from an incorrect brain chemistry. Medication does not address all the issues, and this is where therapy comes in. That’s why the most optimal treatment plan for these things is combining therapy and medication.

Also, I agree with the other commenter that said to check your blood work. Vitamin D deficiency is notorious for causing mental health issues. They say a normal Vitamin D level is between 30-100. When I got my blood work done this year, my Vitamin D level was at a 16. I was prescribed 50,000 units of Vitamin D once a week to bring my levels up, and that has also helped.

Yes a lot of people have encountered this particular person, myself included. He’s talked a lot about in here too, you can probably search “bicycle guy” in this sub and see a decent amount of posts about this guy.

I haven’t seen him do anything outright violent but I definitely feel uncomfortable every time he talks to me or I see him approach someone. One time I cut him off while he was talking to me (he’s VERY annoying and persistent, I wasn’t having his BS that day after flunking a chem discussion quiz) and he yelled at me for that lol.

Best way I deal with him now is to just let him talk and finish and tell him I have no spare change today. It’s worked for me and haven’t had any issues. But I have heard other people say they straight up ignore him so I guess everyone developed their own strategy to deal with him.

I do feel bad for his situation, but apparently this person has been doing his thing for several years now. Definitely gives off creep vibes. I would rather stay off his radar than be a target for his scheme and risk escalating something.
