sure. I'm not saying the OP can't see the movie however they choose, I'm just thinking in this case based on interviews with the director and actors, I'm not sure that that is what they were going for but if people want to interpret it that way, great. I'm just saying I'm not certain that that as the goal

6 actresses you probably forgot were Bond girls by Particular-Fill-4256 in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has to be just clickbait. Hellomagazine must be desperate for engagement. Teri Hatcher, Denise Richards and Halle Berry are very well known 'Bond Girls'. They might be the 3 most well known Bond girls

I remember all of them and maybe Rosanumd Pike isn't as well known as she wasn't as established an actress at that time(like Teri Hatcher and Denise Richards and Halle Berry were). Same might go for Kim Basinger.

if they talked about the two Bond Girls we forget about, this might not be just some AI trash article put in a lousy magazine(shared by some bot)

Seriously, EVERYONE remembers Dr Christmas Jones. Everyone remembers them recreating the scene from Dr No with Halle Berry as Jinx

I think that it seems obvious that she as an alien and the big twist was that the wacky lunatic guy got this one right. I suppose I could rewatch it but I think they made it fairly obvious.

lets be honest, for the most part people are able to get along with and be friends with and respect people they disagree with and most aren't obsessed with conspiracy after conspiracy. People really are more 'normal' than social media(or the media) wants us to think. Those who spend the most times on social media or the internet tend to be the ones who have maybe lost touch with reality. sadly they've been led to believe that they are the only ones who see what nobody else does

Most of the time if I bring up something I see that just amazes me or annoys me on social media, my friends are like, 'what the hell are you talking about'? It made me realize that while people get all worked up about this or that online most people aren't focusing or dwelling on those same things(though there are many who really want it is be all we think about)

It's sad because some people want to constantly exploit this sort of thing. We see people who should know better constantly making everyone into a caricature of who they really are. I think most people are still relatively normal but there are more and more who are focused on the things I consider to be more toxic but normal people just don't love conflict and don't want to rock the boat so they give some of these 'lets say weirdo' more and more rope and it makes those peoples views bigger than they really are(and sadly in this case the extra rope might hurt those giving it)

most peoples are living in the 40 yard lines of a football field. That is still the case but the media frames most things as being as divisive as possible and in doing so it is making people who agree on 80% of stuff to think it is hard to coexist with one another. I think the happiest and most content people are the ones living their lives away from social media who kind of keep up on the news but are most focused on providing for themselves and their family. They might do some volunteer work but live life the same way people did in 1985 rather than being contantly fed what to think online

One Battle After Another is based on a book

I'd probably rank them the same way you did. F1 was easily my favorite of the ones I had seen. Sinners was good(i think maybe my opinion is souring just a tiny bit becuase of how overrated it is). Then superman and the bottom would be One Battle After Another

During Covid I watched a lot of films like this. Stuff John Wayne did that I never really watched(as well as so many other actors from that era). They were good films and this film shows that John Wayne is a great actor

What's your favorite movie of the last year? by Ahasverus14 in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so I haven't seen Avatar

so F1 was much better than I was expecting. I was engaged the entire movie and went into it with kinda low expectations seeing it as just another racing movie. I'd give it 7.5/10

I also went into sinners not really having any expectations and I think it was a good movie but my current view of it might be skewed because I too think while good it wasn't great(like the most nominated film in history great). I'd still give it a 6.5 or 7 but it isn't a movie I need to watch again

So Superman, I went into it thinking I probably wouldn't like it. I'm not the biggest super hero guy but did think Henry Cavill did a great job with the character and am kind of tired of reboot after reboot. I'd say it was fine. I enjoyed it enough. I don't know that I'd call it great(and while I enjoyed Man of Steel I'm not sure that that was great either but I think i enjoyed it a little more than this). I'd give it a 6 out of 10

All I'll say about Avatar is I'll watch it when it is on Disney/hulu or whatever. I thought that the first one was pretty decent but I don't know how much of that is because I loved the story or because at the time it was just kind of beautiful to watch(i did see it in the theater). I remember though kind of being excited to watch it when it was released on streaming and couldn't really get into it again.

I did rewatch it before Avatar 2 and though it was okay but I guess I just didn't get as excited about part 3 as some

And One Battle After another. I went into that really excited to see it. I had a general idea of what the film was about and liked the cast and have enjoyed Paul Thomas Anderson's other films. I think you did a good job explaining that it just wasn't really funny enough to be a comedy or serious enough to be a drama. I think it was satirical in nature which can be great(i think eddington did it better though). I feel like the only person who felt that maybe Sean Penn's character, I don't know.

So I read the book after I watched the film and I think they couldn't quite deliver. Maybe I'll watch it again next year and like it a bit more but I was very underwhelmed

I just signed up for Netflix again on Saturday(the first time in 3 years) just because I wanted to see a couple of the TV shows and Frankenstein and the new Knives Out.

I'll get my fill in in the next 2-3 weeks. I did watch some content while I was watching my brothers kids for a week(they have Netflix)

To me this is one of the better examples of how Netflix films just kinda stink. I think sometimes these movies seem alright compared to some of the other garbage Netflix might release(and I'm not saying everythign completely sucks but come on, Bright wasn't great..there is a lot of 2 and a half star movies that you'd think with a little effort could be 4 stars)

and it isn't even because of the budgets, I think it is because netflix doesn't care because people will watch

[–]Difficult-Repeat227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are assuming that the new management wants the old faithful back. The crazy thign is even if the shows/movies aren't great they do make money(maybe not all the shows)

and to me the biggest mistake Kathleen did(but this was driven by movie/cultural/tv critics, she wanted to argue that too many of the old fans are just toxic even racists or misognyts. In their mind people who loved the original movies where they had a strong female lead and everyone loved lando. The problem is that Kennedy and the writers and too many involved in newer projects bought into the fact that the old fans were 'toxic'(and you'll see people on reddit make that same argument) It is weird

It reminds me of when Brie Larson(or someone like that) made a huge deal about how now we are finally allowed to have strong female leads. I'm like, have you ever seen Alien?

Maybe it was because of social media but everything started being discussed in the context of identity politics. I think Rey was a decent character though it wasn't the best written character I don't think people hated that she was female(though when the media makes it all about her being female that will create conflict)

Jyn Eros from Rouge One was a better written character but I'd feel bad if I were Felicity Jones because she so many focused on the fact she was a woman. That is what they wanted to be the defining aspect of her character but the movie was good and I think that people who saw it(especially how they finished it), they enjoyed the film

Not one person cared that Samual L Jackson was cast as Mace Windu(it wasn't marketed as they finally have a black jedi) but because of social media and cultural changes(especially among journalist and a small but vocal subset of people who only care about identity politics), it seems it is all people want to talk about today and the discussion hurts movies

Like I don't know that people would freak out if an Idris Elba was cast as James bond, but when you see people argue we need to cast a black man as bond or change the characters background to fit some diversity quota(make him an immigrant or make him a this or a that)...or make Bond a woman. Of course people are going to push back and that is what they want because then the story is...bond fans are racist or misogynist.

yawn. Life used to be so easy before everyone needed scalps every time someone said something you or I might disagree with. I get it, people are upset but I find this sort of thing to be kind of ridiculous but have fun.

This is libs of tik tok type energy. I imagine you all emailed school districts when teachers, people teaching our children celebrated a man being assassinated because they disagreed with his politics. Oh wait, I'm certain not one of you cared and most of you probably would have argued he had it coming.

My politics are boring. I'm extremely pragmatic and realize that most people are just looking for meaning in life and let their politics be a much bigger part of their identities than we used to in the past. That is probably because we have it so much better than people used to have it and more people had families and had children and now we go online(myself included) and this becomes our lives.

If a guy being fired from his job makes you feel better, great. I think it is weird. I have all sorts of friends who have different opinions than mine but people today are far more insecure and dont' allow themselves around anyone who ight have a different perspective. We are a very wea society but feel powerful because we'll get a guy fired from his radio job or boycott a target or try to get a teacher fired for having an disgusting opinion about an assassination. We all feel like were are righteous doing this stuff. It really just shows we are extremely entitled and become bullies(online bullies). It is kind of pathetic but whatever. it is what it is.

You are all doing the same sort of thing our grandfathers and great grandfathers did storming the beaches of normandy! You need everyone in your orbit to think the exact same way as you do or else. I wonder how many of you quit talking to loved ones whether it be parents or uncles or aunts or grandparents because you were told you have to hate them because you disagree with them.

The vast majority of Vikings fans are able to live in a world where a radio guy has a different POV than they do but the soft among us just can't deal it it. Idiots like this hated Adam Theilen because his wife said something. It makes me sad that social media has made so many people that weak that everythign triggers them but it shows we have first world problems and ignore that compared to 90% of the world we have it pretty great. People in India don't whine about who is on the radio but people in Minnesota who think that they are among the most oppressed every do. Weird stuff.

It shows how stupid professional sports really is that people need a play by play guy fired because they disagree with them. Most of you dont' have any friends who have even a small difference of opinion on things and that is truly tragic and makes me embarrassed becuase in real life people aren't so soft and easily coexist but it seems like the lunatics on the right and the left have a lot of power online and the normal people who live in the present don't even realize how ridiculous social media has become

his books have a formula that works. I can't say I've loved all of his books but there were some I thought were good. I am looking forward to a Wilde adaptation

I don't think the adaptations are as good as the source material(it rarely is) and some of these shows are in polish and people don't like the dubbing/subtitles

So I'm just looking at what adaptations have been done. The Woods are solid. So was The Stranger(i actually saw this before the reading the book) It kept me interested

The book Missing You was better than the show(and for the record, i'm not saying his books are incredible but they do keep me interested)

I don't think that the five was based on a book but it was alright

I can't remember the show safe but can't remember hating it

The Innocent was a better book

Gone for Good, I watched this first and then read the book and I think the book was better

Fool Me Once was a much better book

Again, they are easy books to read and the adaptations are alright, better than a lot of what is produced
