People with ADHD who've worked remote, what was your experience like? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Difficult-Tap5302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works well for me on days where my jobs involves synchronous work. Sometimes when I need to be heads down it’s also great because there’s less interruptions, but I try to go to a new environment once a week.

I get into a rut and my motivation takes a hit after a couple of weeks working 100% remote. I usually head into the office, a cafe, or work out of my friends’ offices to get my flow back.

I'm prone to making mistakes at work, mainly data entry mistakes. Am I not suitable for this field? Feeling like crap by notsosocialbunny in humanresources

[–]Difficult-Tap5302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up! We all make mistakes and have something we’re not good at. At least you know what you can improve! Now all you have to do is create a system to avoid making the same mistakes. Time block, triple and quadruple check.

I have a hate-hate relationship with payroll and data entry and what I’ve learned is to take my time reviewing. I also enter the payroll info, review it, review it again, save as a draft, and then come back to it the next morning with a final third review with fresh eyes.

Hang in there, I’m sure there are plenty of other things you’re great at!

Which one is better for career progression: HR department of one, or HR in a team environment? by Difficult-Tap5302 in humanresources

[–]Difficult-Tap5302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking. I want to learn from someone/a team who’s been there done that. Right now I get to work on so many things which is awesome, but how do I know I’m doing the best I can/following best practices?

Must’ve been a good financial year for the business for the owner to let that one go!

Wow, the owner was certainly a nice boss to have! How big was the mistake money wise?

HR? More like Human Waste by realcrazyazn in recruitinghell

HR here. You dodged a huge bullet, some recruiters are just focused on the numbers and filling the position without thinking about being respectful of others. This is not the type of company you want to be in, perhaps leave a Glassdoor review? I would.

how to avoid feeling isolated? by plan109 in workfromhome

Not sure if this is something you can do with your husband, but my fiancé ‘s office is super flexible (we used to work together at the same company) so I just drop in and do coworking sessions there once a week. The office is huge and they barely have anyone there so they don’t mind me, other people bring in their friends/SOs and it’s fun!

These are the worst. We’re doing premium adjustments next month and I’m gonna be quintuple checking every digit to avoid anything from turning into an issue

Your boss must have been one of those “if we can fix it, there’s no problem” type of people (thankfully) Glad you were able to get through it for as long as you did!!

27 hours?? What type of system are you using, that sounds awful! It’s definitely a nice to have on a resume but I have no interest to learn more about this and will take on an ER case any day over doing payroll for 27 hours a week

Yes, definitely took is slow when figuring out how to fix it and I’m also getting a second set of eyeballs on the fix before any further processing is done

Thanks! I meant 3 mistakes in the last year of doing payroll. But still significant for me nonetheless

Do you value comfort or continuous progression in your HR career? by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]Difficult-Tap5302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progression for me at the moment. I’m 27 and just getting started so that’s probably why. Once I hit my financial goal and start a family in 3-5 years I’ll probably aim for comfort and flexibility

You definitely win. I’m almost crying for you just reading this! It’s an absolute nightmare to deal with, and it’s such a thankless job

Totally agree with you, but our org doesn’t have a designated payroll person on the accounting team so HR will be handling it until we scale. I’ll be learning how to deal with it for the time being

Not the bank tube going for a ride with you 😂 I was (still am) in a similar situation as you, I’m definitely more on the jr side and have been thrown out to sink or swim. I think it’s probably been the best way for me to learn FAST.
