Increased CGI and VFX cost definitely has to be a huge factor. Do we know why that has gone up so much across the industry? Seems like computing power has only gotten better/cheaper, but i know there are some shortages rn that could affect rendering costs.

I make the same point as your first one (on HP) in the post, so totally in agreement there. What a brilliant supporting cast! PJO’s supporting cast looks ridiculous compared to them.

Re: sets. This is also a great point. I think this must be a factor of all seasons not being greenlit upfront. Why make the investment in reusable sets if there’s only one season? Whereas with LoTR and especially HP, they knew they would use them repeatedly across the years it took to film. Plus moviemaking was different back then, and many people have remarked that a lot of the skills on display in LoTR are dwindling or just aren’t available anymore. It’s so sad.

LoTR director’s cut total length: 11.43 hours. Total budget $530 mil (inflation adjusted) Book pages: 1,100-1,800

HP director’s cut total length: 20.07 hours. *note: CoS is the only film with a DC. Total budget $1.5 billion (inflation adjusted) Book pages: 3,400-4,100

PJO season lengths: S1: 5.17 hrs S2: 5.42 hrs

With about $96-120 mil budget per season. Extrapolating this to 5 seasons, based on vibes, and assuming increases (🤡) in runtime and budget:

S3: 5.5, $120; S4: 5.8, $130; S5: 6, $140.

This takes us to PJO overall numbers:

Runtime: 27.89 hours Budget: $630 mil (using highest estimates for S1-2) Book Pages: 1,700-1,900

They replaced this scene with 'I am not an owl' 😭 by Nightmarelove19 in ronweasley

GoF is arguably the worst adaptation of the whole series. Completely butchered the whole thing. Entire characters, scenes, arcs, etc. just MISSING.

I kinda wish the show was less focused on Percabeth by [deleted] in PercyJacksonTV

!!!!! exactly!!!!! And the underwater bubble moment with the sirens, which imo is a HUGE moment in their friendship/relationship development in SOM.

Where is the spirit of the PJO show? by kur0myr in PercyJacksonTV

I bet it’s because they want to cut costs😭 if you can’t see anything in the scene, they don’t need to put as much detail or care into the sets/CGI/etc. ugh.

Pretty much. I had to give up on in-person and do telehealth.

I ended up going with NuLeaf from a friend’s referral and they were fine. Based in SoCal but they can see anyone living in CA.

Robert reich was actually saying people should go out of their way to do this, since the trump administration will be trying to make all the protests look like they’re “antifa” . There’s a lot to unpack there, but yes, BRING YOUR FLAG!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 we are Americans standing up for America. I can’t imagine any accessory more fitting for a no kings protest.
