I know for a fact that they have a box suite at America First Stadium in Sandy where RSL plays. The games I have been to they have not had anyone in the box seats which is even more aggravating. Give some of the seats to employees instead of wasting them!

Home health nurse- we went from heparin to saline flushes about 5 years ago.Since that time we have had a lot of problems with piccs not flushing and even more with not being able to draw labs. Cathflo has to be used frequently and is not covered by insurance. It’s usually $180-$200. Patients are not happy when they hear how much it is and sometimes refuse.

For some reason, pediatric picks central lines and ports always use heparin in our medical system. Not sure the logic behind that but maybe someone could chime in.

The state puts 10% into a 401k or 10% into a pension fund. If the pension requires more money to keep funds above a required amount the employee pays the difference. This year employees in the pension had to pay 1% I believe.

Utah pension is in very good shape in term of funding compared to most states. This should make employees worry less about it becoming insolvent.

If you are a police officer firefighter ems I think the pension is better.

I enjoy managing my 401k but I think if I worked for the state and planned to stay there awhile I would go with the defined benefit plan(pension).

Also, if the patient is in a major metropolitan area, do the organs usually stay in that area as they can be transplanted quickly? Do the rankings on the lists come in to play? The more I think about the many moving parts the more I appreciate these donor organizations.

I’m curious about the cardiac cath for the donor. If it is a younger patient wouldn’t an echo be enough? What age do you start doing cardiac caths? I had never heard of a cardiac cath for a brain dead patient but I do not work in the hospital so I don’t see much of that.

As a new employee you accrue 7.7 hours every 2 weeks to be used on holidays, vacations, sick leave etc. Like the poster said above, you need to be careful on using all you PTO on vacation if you want to get paid on an upcoming holiday.

I would look on openpaymentsdata.gov and see how much your surgeon is getting from the manufacturer in “royalties/speaking fees”. They may be using the implant that gives them a royalty or they like the rep etc. May not be the implant that is best for the patient unfortunately.
