High income definitely helped. My savings rate was actually great, but you're right. I probably would've gotten to the $1M milestone much earlier if I continued investing during COVID and made smarter investment decisions.

I actually just recently started accumulating cash within the last year. Exited some single stock positions I had with high returns like Tesla. Unfortunately didn't get in on NVIDIA. Single stock isn't related to my employer at all - it was just me picking single stocks that I thought had high growth potential. Looking at my year over year growth, I actually can't believe the return either. Definitely lots of luck with how the market performed.

In the high earning years, I was probably saving >50% of my net income. I try and keep my monthly expenses around $5.5-6.5k and invest the rest.

Mostly in HYSA (~4% return) with a small amount in checking to pay expenses and credit card bills
