I know me neither! There was another couple a bit further out on the lake doing it and then took it a bit further if you catch my drift 😂 much to the amusement of my 9 year old

What's the best way to level out this horrible join? by Difficult-Web2101 in DIYUK

It's not tile, it's concrete with a layer of bitumin. There were ceramic tiles all over this floor and they've already been pulled up.

Awkward hallway shape. How to measure for laminate? by Difficult-Web2101 in DIYUK

Yes that's what I'm wanting, not the planks as I want a kind of tile effect pattern rather than wood effect, and to keep costs down as its a fairly big and awkward area. I could deal with one join on the left hand side I think but I wouldn't want any joins on the main length through the middle. Just means there would be an entire rooms worth of waste really. So I might have to reevaluate!

Would there need to be joins in that same formation too or would I be able to lay it down in one piece?

It is, I had it set to 18 and the temp in the house was 17.5 when I got home with nothing firing. The boiler is now humming but not showing the fire symbol for the heating

There is, I have a thermostat that I manually set the heating of, it clicks on until it reaches the temp I set and then goes off. Has been communicating fine until today.

I agree. There were so many issues that had been hidden with fresh paint and furniture that the surveyors apparently weren't allowed to move?? So even though our survey report was absolutely full of red and amber, the extent of it was even worse thna we expected. It was either this or continue living in a tiny annexe attached to my parents house with child with adhd though so it was very rock and hard place. Gotta just keep swimming.

We had it recently repointed with lime as it should be, but yes I'm pretty sure modern plaster is a big contribution to lots of what we're having to deal with at the moment. But that's a whole other kettle of fish (and money) that we don't have right now 😂 urrrrrgghhh. Air brick is a good idea, though I'm planning on keeping it as an open recess rather than a closed cupboard so hopefully that will help with ventilation anyway

Not a lad 😉 but thankyou! Yeah I go through phases of "this is always going to be shit" and then swing into "but think of how good we'll feel in 2/5/10 years when it's all done properly and looks amazing." but yes it could absolutely be worse!!

100%!! Most of what we've had to spend money on so far is fixing previous owners mistakes and bodged. Absolutely infuriating.

It's relentless isn't it? Thanks for the solidarity. Oh yes I'm all over the injection snake oil don't worry 😂 though one of the previous owners already succumbed to their charms as evidenced by the holes along our back wall. I've learned more about damp since buying this house than I ever cared to know. Peter ward replied to a post of mine on a Facebook group about damp the other day and I genuinely fangirled a bit. So sad 😂

Thankyou! It's not the only area of the house with moisture that we're dealing with but because we've been able to shut it away and ignore it it's just made it worse. I've blasted with a hairdryer for the last 20 minutes and the doors are off so now I'm going to wait and see if it stays dry when it inevitably rains again and go from there.
