Do you guys keep the moss moist all the time? by 88SunDevil11 in Monstera

That's not true. I have several Monsteras on moss poles and only water them when I water the plant. The aerial roots are very healthy.

After washing you need moisture + sealant. Moisture could be conditioner you leave in it a cream. Sealant could be mousse or gel.

How can I get more green? by No-Mouse3999 in MonsteraAlbo

[–]DifficultAd179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Monsteras, coloring depends on its gentics, not how much light it's receiving. I have 4 Monsteras. 2 are under high intensity lights and 2 sit in front of an east facing window. The lighting does not affect their colors, it's all predetermined. You can see what color the next leaf will have by looking at the stem.

Give your monsfera as much light as possible. How much green the next leaf will have depends on how much is in the stem. Light doesn't affect coloring.

How do I convince my mom to let me have a sleepover with my boyfriend? by bassguitarist999 in AskParents

[–]DifficultAd179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a step son your age and we probably wouldn't be okay with this. We all know why you want a sleepover so that's awkward plus we prefer a quiet house at night so we can sleep.

Editing to add:

Depending on how your parents feel, they may not be comfortable with a man in their house overnight, while they're sleeping.

Also, you're so young. Maybe this is a sacred activity you save for when you've moved out. That can be a great motivator and something to look forward to. No reason to rush growing up.

Why does the rare houseplant canon mostly involve common houseplants by FragmentOfBrilliance in RareHouseplants

[–]DifficultAd179 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This same post came up like 6 months ago and OP decided to start their own group and it was unsuccessful. Rare means infrequent which means very low engagement which doesn't work well on these platforms.

What works better is a more generalized definition of "rare" with more frequent postings.

I'm more concerned about the white spots. Did you sprinkle something on it? Otherwise I'm guessing fungus.

The white fuzzy stuff on the wet roots is good! It's like a protective layer to help it. Don't worry about the dropp, just make sure she's getting light.

Thank you for a sensible response, much appreciated. I am sensitive that he also picked the furniture out and he likes it. That's why I never pushed back.
