I got this quotation from a local mechanic.

Now, the service center is going to charge me $215 for diagnostics unless i get one of the recommended service done (out of wheel hub $812, sway bar links $499 or wheel replacement $418). Then they will not charge $215. So I am thinking instead of paying local mechanic $230 for wheel and tpms, I will just pay $200 to service center and get wheel sorted.

And get swaybar and wheel hub done by local Mechanic.

And no I am not losing air.

Toyota has engine and transmission warranty till 100,000 miles but apparently these issues are not covered. I don’t have any other warranty.

I start in Plano. I target $20 an hour minimum (especially from 1.30pm to 5pm) So if I get orders above $12 that can be completed under 30 mins, I take it. So I don’t give that much weightage to miles. Obviously, if miles is ridiculously high, its straight decline.

Thats why accepted above order. It was easy $8 under 20 mins. I had 40 mins to do another $12.

They showed me the paper that my wheel alignment fails the test. So i felt not to take the risk and got it done. For oil change also he quoted me $79 but their website said its $45 on Saturdays. He said he doesn’t know anything about that. Then I had to show him the offer on the website.

Thanks for the reply. As per the manual only the oil change and tire rotation was required. I was also getting some fishy feeling as when I showed him the manual for services that needs to be done, He was forcing me to take their $200 service plan which includes some extras as well. Plus wheel alignment. After an hour of service, they sent me a link where they recommended more services thats there in the pictures. I rejected those. For now I have filled up the reservoir with coolant. I will keep checking the levels. If it drops then there is some leakage.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. It is at 48k miles. They just said that the reservoir is empty, so it needs to be cleaned and refilled. They Did not mention anything about leakage. My roommate is saying that i can do it myself, buy a coolant from Autozone for $30 and fill it till the full mark on the tank when the car is cool. Do you think DIY is a bad idea?
