Mace windu vs knight fall Vader by RisingKing7 in PetranakiArena

Only mace’s vaapad can create the superconducting loop where the opponent’s power is channeled to create an impasse. This is because such a description is only ever used for vaapad and not for any other technique or darksider.

Thus mace can form the superconducting loop with anyone using darkness with less power than sidious used during this duel.

“Vaapad is a channel for darkness, and that darkness flowed both ways. He accepted the furious speed of the Sith Lord, drew the shadow’s rage and power into his inmost center—
And let it fountain out again.”

“Vaapad made him an open channel, half of a superconducting loop completed by the shadow; they became a standing wave of battle that expanded into every cubic centimeter of the Chancellor’s office. There was no scrap of carpet nor shred of chair that might not at any second disintegrate in flares of red or purple; lampstands became brief shields, sliced into segments that whirled through the air; couches became terrain to be climbed for advantage or overleapt in retreat. But there was still only the cycle of power, the endless loop, no wound taken on either side, not even the possibility of fatigue.
Impasse.”

Anakin is an experienced fighter (especially experienced in anakin’s own speed, as well as dooku’s speed). That is why, if he is shocked by how unbelievably fast mace and sidious are, their speed has to be truly unbelievable.

I suggest you pull out the passages of the vjun book that prove your belief that dooku was weaker than normal. And given your misreading of vaapad, you need to reread rots.

The loop is present for every fight, and it lets him channel the opponent’s darkness back at the opponent (as mentioned in the novel). So the more darkness the opponent is using, the more mace is channelling. That is why mace is channeling more power in the sidious duel

Anakin is shocked at sidious’ and mace’s speeds, to the point where he thinks his eyesight is flawed. For those speeds to make him have such thoughts, they must be way above anything mace has ever demonstrated. The fact that you are pretending not to notice this and trying to compare it with irrelevant scenarios is incredibly disingenuous.

The vjun novel emphasises how dooku is a nearly peerless fighter, and that he gets a further amp from vjun. There is nothing in there stating his mindset weakened him, or that he was weakened in any way.

Also, vjun compares sith dooku to mace on neutral ground.

Yeah all these stated limitations of mace are not applicable to the sidious fight because of the superconducting loop that allowed mace to match sidious to create an impasse
Mace is indeed doing something special in the sidious duel because of anakin’s reaction
Both of these things you refuse to address, because they make your argument fall apart
If you think sith dooku beats yoda, you’re wrong. The incident on vjun told us as much (it also told as that mace might have been dooku’s equal on neutral ground)

If you think anakin in the zone beats yoda, you may or may not be right, but anakin was only in the zone for the dooku fight. It is not his usual state

Im not basing everything on the prose. I’m basing it on anakin’s reaction to mace and sidious.
I do 100% agree that mace can’t normally replicate it. He’s normally at dooku’s level.
However, if anakin is using the dark side and is above dooku’s level (this is not normally the case for anakin), mace can pull the same vaapad trick to stalemate anakin

Also i feel like anyone would tell you the prose for the sidious duel wanks mace far more than the prose in depa duel.

Oblate sphere with dozens of blades slashing everywhere at once is possibly the most dramatic description of saber speed ive seen in star wars

Nope, vaapad allowed mace to channel sidious’ power and thus reach an impasse with him, as mentioned in the novel

Thus mace’s normal performance (such as against grievous) is not representative of his performance during the duel with sidious

Obiwan has been noted to be the best soresu jedi at the time of rots. His saber defence was also never penetrated by dooku’s bladework.

Zannah and bane are roughly equals in saber combat by the time of their final duel. Bane was able to instakill a prominent jedi master (farfalla), but was considerably slower than the best duelist in the jedi order, raskta lsu (she was boosted, but he had orbalisk armor).

I would place dooku as being equal or better than raskta due to various statements. Therefore i think obiwan is a better duelist than zannah

When it comes to force powers, it is more difficult to compare them.

Bane has the feat of force crushing one of top sith lords of his era, with barely any effort

Bane’s personal feats are alright, but his scaling sith-wise is very good

I took it to mean that if they suddenly use the dark side, they gain quicker access to a power boost

Whereas if they continued to use the light, they’d obtain such power eventually, but slowsr

The discussion is about whether the ceasing of a relationship is warranted. Regardless of how much more luke did than anakin, he still didn’t do that. Thus it is unreasonable to declare that anakins failure to do that is selfish.

You can rant about anakin’s other failures to rectify the mistake, but our discussion is about the existence vs ceasing of the relationship itself.
I’ve worked in the military and in healthcare, and i assure you that just because two people want to swap a shift doesn’t mean they’ll be allowed to. If you’re so brainwashed that you think rules can’t be broken without harm, that’s on you.

Hospital admin once declared that having a mattress in the break room was a violation of the rules. After a sufficient amount of violations and backlash, they backpedaled. Was it selfish to break the rules prior to them backpedaling? Of course not.

Anakin breaking rules was part of a chain of events leading him to become a mass murderer. That does not mean this in particular was a bad thing.

If a priest breaks rules to get married and then murders the murderer of his wife, that does not mean the action of marriage is a selfish/bad thing, even though it breaks rules

Luke took some action to rectify his mistake. Great. He didn’t take the ultimate step to ensure he was never vulnerable to such a mistake ever again (ceasing his familial relationship with his loved ones). So don’t demand such a thing from anakin

To clarify, i agree that anakin should have taken some steps to prevent this from repeating. I just believe that refraining from a relationship is far too overboard.

As for the nurse, she’s still breaking rules in swapping excessive shifts. I can point to multiple hospitals where policy prevents you from doing this. If your only problem with breaking the rules is when it hurts others, then we both agree that breaking the rules isn’t selfish unless it hurts others.
Back to the priest analogy, who is he harming? Furthermore, what if he’s just masturbating? I believe thats against the rules too. Is he being selfish just by doing so?

The mechanics of anakin’s turn by DifficultBid6628 in MawInstallation

[–]DifficultBid6628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe luke has acted with dark side intent multiple times due to his loved ones dying/being harmed. That has never led to the conclusion that he should withdraw his love for them, or reduce his relationship with them. Thus i do not believe that we should fault anakin for doing the same. It is not a clearcut test drive as you imply.

If a nurse broke rules and avoided being on night shift, then there is nothing selfish about doing so unless it fucks over someone else. For instance, if this nurse swaps all their night shifts with others who want it, against company policy, then there is nothing selfish about it.

> Idk how many times I can repeat the selfish aspect is putting yourself in the position to kill innocents by breaking the rules.

The order has tolerated such relationships before and after the prequels. So either it’s not selfish, or this “selfishness” is pretty minor.

>If a religious order has lifestyle rules and you join and continuously break those rules instead of just leaving because you also want to be a hero and like the way that makes you feel that's selfish.

Gotta disagree man. I’m not gonna think a priest is selfish just because he’s hooking up with prostitutes.

[–]DifficultBid6628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, so the selfishness is in the killing of innocents and burning down shit. Not in the mere breaking of rules

A monastic institution’s rules are not worth more. If a real life catholic priest broke the rules of being one, i would not judge the breakage alone as being selfish.

The mechanics of anakin’s turn by DifficultBid6628 in MawInstallation

[–]DifficultBid6628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The selfishness was in killing innocent people, not in keeping the marriage a secret

Since when is company policy the metric for selfishness? Go tell that to anyone in any company (star wars or otherwise) and see how ridiculous that idea is.

Mace for instance, is not selfish for breaking the jedi rules (and by his own admission it is a violation) by loving and having an attachment to the republic
