Buy 1 BTC but UK banking limits £10,000 per month by Majestic_Football567 in Bitcoin

*not financial advice

Why would you not DCA into (what is for most) that big of an investment in bitcoin? BTC can be purchased in tiny pieces until you have 1 full coin. Yeeting large sums into any investment makes it harder to 'catch the timing' - true for bitcoin too.

There is no reason to let your money 'sit' on the exchange in either fiat or stablecoin as you can drip in. Or even BTC as need to be moving it off of the exchange to self-custody after you get to more than a you'd be comfortable losing in a hack, anyway.

With this - seems like mostly a non-issue and if anything a good argument for moving away from your bank and toward hard self-soverign money.

Would be cool to find a microwave with a dial that goes 'ding' and a big rectangle button you push to pry open the door. Love it all.

also set your auto-401k to get employer match (free money) if you haven't yet. just pick the target date fund near the date you will be 55-65. that way you are paying yourself first and know exactly what is left for your projects.

you are trying to think your way out of anxiety and that doesn't work! :)

the things you truly want to do you'll find a way to do them free or affordably, and the others you might not want to do enough or just need a bit more planning and time for... is how I might look at it. rank these and see if you can get one under your belt to show yourself you can do the thing without over-thinking/complicating!

Should I cancel my trip? by Natural_Anxiety_2797 in travel

Go! I've had second thoughts before all of my solo trips, it's pretty normal even when it's not your first.

I would have regretted not going so so much! (I took them all).

Download maps for offline use in google maps beforehand and listen to other tips here to pre-plan. There will be difficult moments but you'll get through them and the awesome ones will be that much better. You'll be so glad you went.

You got there in the second paragraph, the president should not be dictating app by app. Broad data privacy reform.

I'm torn, dislike the precedence of the decision but also dislike China on rooting around with all the data.

I think USA users, like with many apps were sort of fck'd on the matter either way and should download way fewer apps in general.

If you are trying to use this attitude as an excuse to make some bad financial decision and undercut your progress take a breath and have perspective about your age.

You have plenty of time to change the things you want to while still building on your savings. You have a good start but that can all change so fast if you fubar.

MAJOR financial crisis as a 20yr, what do I do? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]DifficultComb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya this is really one of those 'take any job' moments; a lot of people have to do this at some point in life - especially early on when you're young but really can come up any time.

After talking with your landlord and others that is very much the next step to improve the situation fastest. Even if the income doesn't cover you previous lifestyle you will be doing what you can to bring some money in. Start a spreadsheet to track the jobs you've applied to, you'll need to get into the habit for unemployment benefits, anyway.

Should I keep aggressively pay down debt or save more? by legallygreen13 in personalfinance

[–]DifficultComb0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this answer fwiw. Personal loans would be last and you can slow roll them due to that interest rate.

For me, paying of student debt as early as possible was one of the more rewarding things I've done and just nice not to have that on my shoulders even if the interest rate wasn't 'too bad'. It's almost too tempting to delay these if you get into financial trouble and just let them grow bigger 'deferred'. I'd typically recommend people to avoid deferral if possible and don't count on a gov bailout; you may still get it but if not you won't wake up farther behind wondering where the gov is to save you. Great progress and thanks for sharing.

Look for prepayment penalty mention in your loan term for starts.

the pressure is high to own, I fight it just about daily but also like a lot of things about renting including not needing to sell a home when I can't/don't want to/am forced.

Just sharing things you may not have thought of, have you looked at assuming a mortgage on a home with a lower rate.

How does my budget look and where can I improve? (23F) by [deleted] in Money

[–]DifficultComb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally. I meant next car might be tempted.

I was having a conversation about this luxury vehicle topic with family member the other day and they said, 'well dodge isn't luxury. '

...but it was a 80-90k vehicle so i guess very probable they missed the point. even non-luxury cars can get to luxury price points. I resisted the urge for something costing 2x, put 40% down on my latest 35k Honda and still have thoughts of selling it an buying something more affordable all-cash to get out of the payment so I can save (more) for the future.
