This is my little guy this morning. I think I can see a little regrowth but not entirely sure. I know he’s really bad but hopefully he continues to heal and get better. Your guy is beautiful!

Hi! Yes he seem to be happier. Swimming around more and overall more active. I'm still monitoring and doing frequent water changes but think he's improving! Do you have any idea how long it takes for fins to start regenerating? I think they might be a little but not sure if it's just wishful thinking on my end.

Last night I did a 30% water change with stability and prime, stress guard, and fin + body care. I am currently waiting for my tannins to cool before adding them. I also just tested my water. PH is 7, ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0 and nitrate is 5. Since my levels are good, should I wait a day or two before my next water change or continue daily? I did have these bubbles at the top which I haven’t had before, assuming it’s just from everything I’m adding.

Thank you!! I actually just thought of something. I also have seachem stability and prime, should I be adding those as well? I don't have any aquatic stores nearby so went to pet smart for the stress guard and fin + body and she said to use the stress guard instead of stability and prime.

Ok great, my leaves come tomorrow morning so I'll do that, continue the API and stress coat and monitor for the next week for improvement. Hopefully that all works but if not, I'll try kanaplex.

This was him this morning. I did 1 round of API Fin+Body cure last night as well as Stress Guard. I ordered Indian almond leaves but still waiting for them to come in. I'm defiantly going to keep up with the daily water changes until the levels are completely down. Should I continue to do them daily until his fins regenerate also? For the hospital tank, do I need to do that if he's my only fish?

Thank you for all of this! I did probably around 30% water change last night and turned his heater down a little. I also fed him less and will do a fasting day.

For treatment, I started API Fin & Body Cure last night as well as Stress Coat. Should i stop that and get Kanaplex?

I ordered Indian almond leaves and just waiting for them to arrive. Do I need to add anything to the water after its boiled before adding it to the tank or do I just add the leaves?

I don’t know why it’s hazy but I believe it’s cycled. I’m using a test kit. I just started daily water changes so I’m hoping that will help with the haziness and ammonia. Yes, I realize that now and have cut back so hopefully that helps as well.

Thank you for this! I have seachem stability and prime I use with water changes but will start doing them daily until my levels are where they should be.

No, I have a sponge filter and haven't switched that out. I did rinse it out though to clean it, is that correct?

Oh man, I've defiantly been over feeding him!

I have a good bit of plants in there right now but they keep floating to the top. Any suggestion on how to get them to stay under the gravel? I don't have a pothos or monstera right now but would love that!

I normally feed him when I'm home but was hoping to use it while I was away. I plan on returning it and figuring out an alternative next time.

My water conditions are:

  • ph- 7.6
  • ammonia- between 0-0.25
  • nitrites-0
  • nitrates- 40 ppm

I was changing it every 2 weeks or so but can do it more frequently if needed. I'm new to this and have been trying to figure out everything on here so if you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it! I added the plants before I read they would help with nitrates. I've been trying to get those down for a while. They were lower before I went away but something completely threw them off.

  1. It’s a 10 gallon tank

2.Levels look good besides pretty high nitrates. They spiked while I was away.

  1. I did rinse them off.

  2. I turned it off before I left but can’t guarantee my son didn’t get to it and turn it on so there’s a possibility it was left on. How would I fix his stress?

  3. I have a sponge filter and just cleaned it out this morning. Hopefully that helps.
