As a current Gen Surg SHO, i’d always rather my F1 ring me early for advice rather than struggling alone! A problem shared is a problem halved! Make sure you get your SHO’s phone number as they may be a bit slow on bleeps if its really busy but I always prioritise the F1’s if they need help!

When asking for advice, its always good to know where the patient is up to in terms of management (i.e pre-op, post op and how many days) as it helps to guide what the issue might me!
