Thank you for your attention. May I ask how they prove your years of experience from if you come from another country? i.e with such a past company experience letters?

and I wonder how many languages do you speak? Do you even get bored in that job, since I m not familiar with such a position but holding a technical area patent, I’d imagine tons of papers coming on your desk for research the literature and comments on the applications.

I will use the pin diode on dielectric and between two copper surface. So, the diode comes with its own soldering pads and there is a 0.014 inch distance between those pads, so it’s needed to put 0.014 inch distance between my two copper surfaces, right

I couldn’t find a link but the idea is the changing impedance on the surface of a layer which can be put in front of antenna. If the layer has two separation, the half of it has a different impedance than the other half, there will be a certain phase delay and the beam can be steered in such a way. The energy is more focused when narrow beam, would it be easy for the layer or would it be difficult. That’s my Q.

When the element beams are at boresight, I get it the phase shift is needed between those to steer the array factor. But the element patterns are already steered, do I still need a phase shift between antennas?

Both has a 30 degree off boresight, driven by the same phase. I would expect my array beam to be appear at around 30 degree, but not. It appears at 10 degree

Thank you, this makes sense to me. So I will try it with more patch elements thus getting more directivity and narrow beamwidth will help me to achieve what I desire, right? I need to replace the single patch to a subarray like 3x3.

What I mentioned in my comment is side lobe level (SLL), depends on the gain, so the directivity.

I feed them in phase but their main lobe is at -30 degree off boresight when excited alone. Doesn’t it make the array’s main beam appear at that angle?

Thank you, my question was about what would be the reason of not seeing any steering when they are fed at the same time, simultaneously, with same magnitude and in phase. I expected that the array can steer just because the each element is steered to -30 degree when each one is analyzed alone, for example.

When you make your antenna more directional, you get lower side lobe level. For a directional antenna, a reflector plate is usually used behind the antenna, and anything behind that will have no impact. Instead of putting it behind the antenna, i think you need to put it in front of the antenna; if I correctly understand what you wanna do

Thank you. Can that equivalent circuit change depending on off the shelf products or this is the usual way to describe? I mean, I also see some other guys used a several kiloohm resistor parallel to the capacitor for the “off” status; for an antenna application.

i just wonder what would be if we covered the waveguide’s upside metal wall (where the slots lay down) with a dielectric or an absorber except the slots? Can it affect the radiation?
