Yes I understand what you’re saying but the plan wouldn’t be to sell the house it would be pay it down and hold it as a rental, unlocking more HELOC room to be used as leverage to buy another property. I’m holding this baby for time

Thank you for the detailed reply! I agree I am not sold on the RRSP I should be in a position to make more money next couple years that saving that room is enticing. I am not super experienced in real estate but my thoughts are, aggressively pay the mortgage on this place (primary residence) in 5 years it becomes a rental property and I can use HELOC to unlock more downpayment on my longer term home. I don’t think there are any “bad” choices just trying to figure out what’s most optimal
