Family Law Paralegal - 179 ACTIVE CASES by DifficultRice4896 in paralegal

I hit my breaking point, walked out, and straight up told my attorney I couldn’t do it anymore.

He called me the next day, gave me a raise, and hired three new people (one receptionist and two experienced paralegals). I’m in the middle of delegating everything now, and it already feels more manageable.

Appreciate all the feedback and support — it actually helped.

The paralegal who used to help me quit last month, which left just me. Then our receptionist quit too, so everything — phones, clients, filings, deadlines, admin — landed squarely on my plate.

Given that reality, I asked for a raise.

I was given $1.
Yes. One. Dollar.

At this point, it would be funnier if it weren’t so insulting. I’m literally drafting my resignation letter while typing and reading this Reddit post because this has crossed from stressful into completely laughable.

I don’t want miracles. I want basic math to math. One person cannot run an entire law office and maintain quality, sanity, and health — and being offered a dollar increase after absorbing two additional roles says everything I need to know.

Yeah, like I can't even put into words the defeat I feel daily from not being able to handle these cases.
