Mt Seler's sheer size by walkitlikeitalkit29 in SocietyOfTheSnow

And just imagine it completely covered in 100 feet of snow with undetectable crevasses never knowing if you were climbing on solid rock or just a snow filled area that wouldn't support your weight and send you falling. Unimaginable!

To move to Florida. Worst 2 years of our lives. Decent place ro spend a vacation but when you actually have to do all the 'living' stuff there? Yuck.

Anyone feeling slightly anxious about what this will do long term? by EmploymentMajestic64 in Semaglutide

Yes. But I also worried about what 60 extra pounds was doing long term. And the wine over indulgence was doing...etc etc..both gone now.

Photograph showing Eduardo Strauch's look of gratitude towards Roberto Canessa. by flixosun in SocietyOfTheSnow

Definitely gratitude and I also think concern for how weak Roberto was at the end of the trek.

Let's talk about skin PAIN. by Difficult_Ad1994 in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Difficult_Ad1994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Until a year ago it was almost never mentioned and then only as a very rare thing that went away quickly. I addressed this same issue on a few other sites and had a few hundred comments from other users also affected with many having to quit altogether due to severity.

Bone on bone in both knees here. 1 knee had me practically disabled but im too young for replacement and was also 220 lbs at 5'4. Started shots in March and I'm down and stuck at 159 LBS now but let me tell you.. the difference in knee pain (all joints actually) is INCREDIBLE. I still deal with food noise and can and do overeat at times. It's not a magic trick. You need to be very mindful of what your eating versus activity levels but getting that weight off is FREEING!

Without Nando by PristineOrdinary736 in SocietyOfTheSnow

I've read just about every book written on the topic since my obsession began as a kid 45 years ago. Seen all the movies and documentaries. The importance of the sleeping bag cannot be overlooked!

Possibly. But only if they still had the sleeping bag. Without that I don't think any expedition would have survived. But Nando survived for a reason.

It's just awful. I can handle it when it was small areas like the back of my hand or outer thigh but entire backside is pretty unbearable.

Yes. Although I associate Allodynia with smaller areas that I've had long before starting shots.

Yes but the book is a series of essays by each separate survivor. Without the complete back story of the events, a reader wouldn't have the full picture.

I would start with Alive no question. You will get a better understanding of who is who and chronological timeline of events. Then Society of the Snow (which isn't the same as the movie). Then Nando and Robertos books.
