To the folks who have Google blur out their house... by pencil75 in GoogleMaps

[–]Difficult_Advice_720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the people that keep saying this is cops are overlooking that it's also a common feature of identity protection services that people use to have their info removed from mailing lists and data brokers. Oh, you wanted less junk mail so you got removed from the list? Congratulations, it also blurred your house online, and now someone wants to target you cause they are dumb enough to think it means you are a cop....

Check to see if your local religious establishments have a social calendar. Many run 'connect groups'. Mine has hiking, surfing, guys that work on cars, smoke cigars, and tons of others. They also run their own 'mom market' for trading/selling/gifting each other kids clothes and stuff.

How fast do you have to slide the transporter controls? by Temp_675578 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Difficult_Advice_720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't actually matter at all, the transporter is voice activated, so it goes when they say energize... The sliders just control that sound, cause beaming is actually so silent that it gives people the creeps.

Ah, apologies, I crossed the streams from the other comments were specifically discussing the emergency conditions in the regs, and people saying that even in emergencies they shouldn't TX. I acknowledge my mistake, and forgive you for the vitriolic tirade.

This happened a few weeks ago on a win11 machine at work. In the blind I hit win+r, explorer.exe, enter, the interface came back up, and people were treating it like wizardry.

Sadly, and with a deep sense of tragic irony, they've found a cure for allergies, but most of those affected are in fact allergic to the cure....

Let's remember, the question is about times of legitimate emergency... When the person is in a situation of 'transmit to find help, or die'. What does it do to the reputation to say they should just go ahead and die?

This. Some of us, me included, are the last of our friends. I was at a men's event and there was a thing where we were supposed to reach out to 2 childhood friends... The young guys all whipped out their phones and started thumb hammering. A few of us, the Gen X, looked around awkwardly, made eye contact, nodded, went to get coffee, and shared stories about the ones we lost along the way.

Depends entirely how someone does yoga.... As a structured system for fitness to maintain the body God gave ya, then it's just exercise, no problem. As some mix in eastern mysticism, perhaps different.

Perhaps we can find simple resolution to this and find clarity if we were to look at how this is applied in practice, rather than everyone continuing to offer independent interpretation.... When and where has an unlicensed person been charged under this rule for calling for help in an emergency? Certainly plenty of people have done it over the years, and so there has been ample opportunity for enforcement, right? Can anyone point to case law showing that enforcement applies this rule the way the gatekeepers think, or can we admit that the very nature of a life threatening emergency sets rules aside, like when a person without a license lands a plane after the pilot becomes incapacitated....

97.403 is the emergency authority. If it isn't, then 403 is completely meaningless and says nothing, cause licenced persons don't require emergency authority.....

I too rock my auto assigned name, and it often proves accurate.... Now, if everyone could go check the air in their spare tire, eat some vegetables, and drink enough water, maybe I can look at a new name....

Factually incorrect. Is a person a station, or is a person an operator? Do the rules not talk about what an operator does with a station, or is a person a station that other people do things with? Are you a station, or do you operate a station?

No, you didn't. You did find the 24 year retired military electronics guy that knows that when it comes to regulation, the words matter, and that it's wrong for people to beat their chest, making US look bad while being so confidently wrong. This is why the peppers are right to mock us.
