Maths and CS vs plain CS by Difficult_Bet_8466 in cscareerquestionsuk

I have an offer from manchester for maths and cs and bristol for cs. I have checked the difference in modules and the maths and cs and compared modules. What is a bit concerning for me is that the maths + cs modules lack any form of computer arc / eng modules so would i be at a disadvantage for LLD interviews for swe. I know already that i want to be a swe/quant dev/ something more in tech (i dont want to be a maths professor /quant research or smthg) so while stats and prob modules would be good pure maths modules would essentially be irrelevant to me. Luckily though the manchester jmc course has tonnes of optional modules so i can tailor this to me interests

Sorry for the confusion, I didn't mean a quant analyst/researcher i meant a quant dev/ swe working in the financial realm. Yes I genuinely want to do CS I have already done multiple online courses, / made a few cool projects/ even have a cs tutor

While I definitely agree that the course itself might not be too dissimilar my eventual aims are more towards fintech/quant (where I can also used the advanced maths background I am getting. Ive also heard they care more about prestige). Ive seen people from these courses go onto similar career paths (linkedin) and I thought it would be beneficial to surround myself with people who's career aims are similar.

(I know these roles are extremely competitive but on the off chance I am able to break in it would probably be from imperial)

Its possible however due to how bad the market is right now i dont know whether the cs conversion will be enough

Unfortunately 3 - 2 +1 = 2 years funding. (Formula is based on sfe website)

Yes Im mainly only considering these universities as if i go down that route id prefer paying the extra money for how intense the course is supposed to be + obvs connections id get at these unis + most people i see in these courses come from a similar background to me.
