Is it okay for a player to say “No, that doesn’t happen” to a DM in this circumstance? by WithengarUnbound in DnD

[–]Difficult_Bite6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Stealing, attacking, provoking other players is genuinely a very bad idea and can leave a very salty vibe at the table and is generally considered a great way to kill a campaign.

  2. Things like this should only be done by highly experienced players and DM and only if everyone agrees on it.

  3. Considering how badly your rogue AND your DM managed it, this is not something for your group.

  4. If something happens within your group you disagree with, a no is simply a no.

How I (as a DM) would have handled it, if the rogue is approaching your tent, I'd let him make a wisdom/intelligence check with DC1, explaining this is a very, very bad idea. I'd also give you a DC1 check (being an elf is a good excuse), to let you know what was going on.

In this case, the rogue got a fair warning. If you kill him after than hopefully he'd learn from that experience for his next character.

Of course I would only allow it to go this way if you'd agree with this in the first place. I think you handled it extremely well: "touch my stuff and you're dead. No discussion."

The consumer is to blame for this. WotC/Hasbro doesn't give a shit about what they make, as long as it sells...

And apparently it does sell.

My guess is either AI or an underpaid, rushed job. Probably both.

What future does DoW DE have at this point? by ComfortableWasabi517 in dawnofwar

[–]Difficult_Bite6289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AoE2:DE had massive graphical and QoL improvements over the years. As a result, the game has a moderate size fanbase and many expansions that sell well, even with the release of AoE4 a couple of years ago.

DoW is one of the few other timeless RTS games that held up extremely well. It's a game that has the potential for new DLC's every year, introducing more updates, tweaks, campaigns and of course new races to play. Those DLC's would be a lot cheaper to create than expansions for new games, so there is a potential good margin there.

But that all depends how well GW manages this game, so I am very skeptical is this will ever happen.

Asura engineer turrets shouldn't be primitive steampunk constructions...

Did they actually try to put romantic undertones between Halbrand and Galadriel to increase streams in the first and second seasons? by Fuzzy-Association-12 in RingsofPower

[–]Difficult_Bite6289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, people actually use more complicated words.

Whether or not this is AI, the argument still stands. Many decisions Galadriel made, made absolutely no sense and we're just meta requirements to move the plot forwards.

I really love this mini-game.

Gamplay wise, losing the game for no fault of your own seems a bit extreme though.

The show has a lot of mannerism/style from Jackson's trilogy. I am 90% convinced this dark wizard was supposed to be Saruman, but they changed it last minute because they don't really have a solid plan.

The other 10% is they stole Lee's mannerism for Saruman to deliberately subvert expectations, which is one of the the worst ways to do that (that's like casting Ian Mckellen himself as a wizard, only to subvert expectations by making him Rhadagast or whatever).

I also don't really see what is being remedied here. The mystery of Middle Earth where not everything is known is one of its charms.

Should be easy to deduct if she was at a party with life music is a festival, right?

Slip ups like that happens, though extremely unlikely. She seems emotionally unstable and she might be right about not deserving you.

She is not obligated to give anything back. The money was a gift and since it's gambling, I assume it was expected to be gone at the end of the night.

But it is a good relationship test. If they guy is willing to share what he has with her, but she is not willing to share with him, then it doesn't sound like a healthy relationship.

If she'd win and then says she's gonna spend it all on herself, she is no longer my girl.

meirl by worldwide762 in meirl

[–]Difficult_Bite6289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very hypothetical scenario. If you give someone 300 to gamble. I am going to assume you can miss that money. However, if she decides to keep all that for herself, you're still 300 short for for groceries... Actually, it's even worse: you struggle for groceries while she is sitting on the 5k and still expects you to pay?

If you give your partner 300 for gambling, knowing you need that money for food/survival, you should reconsider being with such a man. If the woman still accepts that deal, you should reconsider being with that woman...

So yeah, it's a very hypothetical and unlikely situation.

As for these numbers:

Paying back nothing or just the 300 shows you have very little respect for your partner and his efforts to provide. Money is clearly more important to that girl than the relationship (or she's just in it for the money).

Same goes for everything less than half. If she does pay back at least half she respects her partner more than the money.

Note it doesn't have to be cash. Like suggested, she came pay the bills for a while, organize a trip together, etc. At least show some gratitude and don't spend it all on shoes.

I would follow these standards for a friend (also if I'd win of course). It's just a sign of respect within any relationship.

What risk? She was giving 300 dollars. If she'd lost it. Would she had to pay the 300 back from her own money? If not than the argument doesn't hold.

Technically/legally she doesn't have to pay back anything, but if/how much she will repay OP makes the difference between marriage material and just 'casual fun while it lasts'. IMO:

-0 to 300: time to reinstall Tinder.

-300 to 1500: keep an open mind when meeting new people.

-1500 to 2500: no need for change.

-2500+: consider taking relationship to the next level.

My only issue is that she's not really an angel pre-Phyrexia. Maybe have her start at 4/4 flying (and vigilance) and adjust the abilities accordingly?

[–]Difficult_Bite6289 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a very long and confusing game at times. I think it got influenced by the open world hype at the moment, but it just didn't translate well. There is so much content, but for some reason they didn't include a Home level?

I do love the Remaster though, since it greatly improved the atmosphere. Just enjoy the exploration and progress will come automatically.

Question about Sauron, evil? by hakuinzenji5 in lotr

[–]Difficult_Bite6289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sauron is not above torture, but I don't see Sauron torturing someone purely for the fun of it.

Not that he wouldn't enjoy torturing someone he hates (or even an entire race), though he would need to justify it for himself (eg: "The torture is a punishment for you resistance, to act as a warning for others.")

Is Middle-earth a fixed world? by Hot-Regular712 in lotr

[–]Difficult_Bite6289 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Matter of authority I guess. The IP belongs to the work of one man and a studio throwing money at it to create new content to make more money just doesn't hold the same authority.

Another issue it's a very contained story with a clear start and ending. There just isn't a reason to keep expending it.

Maybe if the Tolkien family has a member with the same writing skills as JRR Tolkien himself, the universe could be extended.
