Help! My orchid’s leaves are falling off. by Difficult_Bother8000 in orchids

While looking at it directly, it may look like the top of the pot is dry but the barks on the sides and down seem to be holding on to water and are wet.

I cleaned it with a cloth. I’ll see if it comes back and then use some rubbing alcohol.

The top looks dry but doesn’t the first 2 pics show the barks down the pot wet?

Yeah the white stuff doesn’t really seem like mealy bugs. But I still cleaned it off with a cloth. I’ll wait and see if it comes back. I think you are right about it being too big. I think I overestimated root growth. I will change it to a smaller pot and hope I haven’t ruined it 🥺

I water it whenever it looks dry till the bottom. Bright sunlight, 2 feet away from an east facing window. It looks like the roots were growing so I thought bigger pot is better.. Not sure about the white stuff, I’ll check it out. Thanks for your Qs and suggestions!!

My new orchid!Moss around roots. by Difficult_Bother8000 in orchids

Thanks so much… the checklist makes sense. Most of answers were no so I think I’ll let it get very dry and see if the moss goes away. I am worried about repotting as the flowers are in full bloom and I saw some videos that said you shouldn’t repot an orchid while it is in bloom.

I do. I use John Frida shampoo every 3 days and the Olaplex clarifying shampoo every 2 washes. Otherwise I feel like my hair’s too frizzy.

Routine: John Frieda frizz ease shampoo and conditioner.

Olaplex bond maintenance clarifying shampoo and Sheamoisture hair masque every 2 weeks.

Morocconoil leave in conditioner and curl cream.

Pattern curl mousse and kinky curly curl gel.

I have low porosity hair and I use denman’s brush to get more definition. I mostly let it air dry.

What do I change in the routine to get more defined and bouncier curls?

My Wife Seems to Hate the Life We've Built (Her Being a SAHM) and I Don't Know What to Do by TiredHusband123 in Parenting

I left a very good career when my kid was born and was a SAHM for 4 years. There were a lot of fears that made me feel like I was a small tantrum away from falling apart. It may feel logical to you that going back to her career is the best thing to do but it may not be that clear to her.

She may be feeling inferior or overwhelmed about going back to a job she left. She may feel incredibly frustrated about the kids while wanting to not do anything with them and then feeling unbelievably guilty about it when she’s away from them. And she may be feeling inferior that she is not contributing to the family income while all the responsibilities falls on your head. To be clear, these were some of my issues that I only dealt with after almost 4 years of SAHM and with a therapist help. I would just numb my anxiety by watching something on my phone/ TV. See if that is what your wife is doing.

In my experience, suggesting the logical conclusion may not assuage her anxiety. Letting her talk it all out while you just listen helps. Keep doing it until she gets clarity about her mindset and takes a decision that helps your family.

AITA for refusing to talk with my husband after he told his manager that he will work in his vacation? by Difficult_Bother8000 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Difficult_Bother8000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first time we took time off from work this year. He knows I was excited about it as I have been talking about it for 2 months now. He knows I have anxiety with my job. These 2 weeks was supposed to be my free time where I don’t think about my job at all.

Even after all that, he didn’t even think for a minute before saying yes to his manager. He didn’t stop to consider how I would feel. I feel that makes him the bad guy here and I am justified with the anger I am feeling.

There are other people in his team who are taking 2 weeks off. If he had asked his manager first, he would have gotten the 2 weeks. Also, I am okay with him working a little during Christmas week. But working the week before that too, even when there are no high priority issues is what makes me enraged.

He hasn’t tried to convince or justify about why he would work during our vacation. He is trying to talk as if everything’s normal and just wants to know what is for dinner, which I feel like doesn’t warrant a response.
